what a year for the #USWNT! before I dive back into my deadlines, just want to put it out there that Bluesky housekeeping is on my to do list! but I'm happy to see so many of y'all here already 🙏🏾 following people back and curating my shit soon come!

I said this on the pod but it bears repeating: it's looking more and more like Emma Hayes has appointed Lynn Williams the auntie (complimentary) of the #USWNT next gen. she has supreme "Keep Calm and Ball TF Out" presence, and she can literally keep up with the youth. win-win if you ask me!

can we also talk about the texture on Yazmeen Ryan's cross to Lynn Williams?? that ball was deep conditioned under a shower cap, under a hair dryer, then marinated in some Shea butter before it was twisted into place. top. tier. service. #USWNT

whew baby!! Lynn Williams is the actual royalty of the Netherlands, it seems. been ruling the country left and right for years now 👑 #USWNT

oh, what a trio of subs: Alyssa Thompson, Hal "cat person but she a dawg" Hershfelt, and Lily Yohannes making her ✨first official debut✨ with the team since committing to the US breath of fresh air, all three of em!

I can think of one 17-year-old whose feet are absolutely twitching her their boots to touch this grass rn #USWNT

one of my more pressing, long-term concerns abt this emerging #USWNT is the lack of *assertive* 360-degree leadership on the field. feels especially glaring in games like this. Becky Sauerbrunn-type energy: leading from example, *and also* vocal and firm, you know?

not an own goal, Netherlands 😳 strange to see the #USWNT on the receiving end of such bizarre, undeserved (we can be honest with each other, right?) mercies, but here we...are?!

I'm a fan of Romée Leuchter btw. she's with PSG now but I enjoyed watching her play alongside Lily Yohannes at Ajax last szn. dynamic, saucy, strong eyebrow game — real triple threat of a player

is Alyssa Naeher SURE she wants to retire? lol because girl...the form... 🤌🏾 #USWNT

Tamerra @tamerra-griffin.bsky.social · 03/12/2024

hope it's not serious for Uncle Naeher ofc but you have to read this as a possible (v much needed!!) game management for the #USWNT. time to readjust the ponytails, swig some water, ponder an existential question or two...a "get your shit together" timeout, if you will

hmmm! Netherlands up 1-0 on a goal that was quite *Oprah shrug of inevitability* and looking like they want more. seasoning the longstanding beef!! also, this is — and I can't emphasize it enough — exactly what the #USWNT needs: a tough match vs an angry opponent w their home crowd behind them. yes

how do you say "front foot" in Dutch 👀 #USWNT

Tamerra @tamerra-griffin.bsky.social · 03/12/2024

it's still early but #USWNT v Netherlands already feels like a straight continuation of their World Cup meeting, almost like they only hit pause on the game and picked it up 17 months later. intense, quick, crisp, solid. none of that tentativeness we saw at Wembley, thank god

I think there might be one more goal in this Italy v Germany match but the fact that Italy's up 2-1 at 79' moves me. they've been playing with confidence; pounced on cringey defensive blunders from Germany on both goals too

I hope JCA and Gotham are prepared to meet today’s price on Yazmeen Ryan. can’t imagine European teams are watching this game and aren’t feeling…moved 😉 (she’d do well in Europe too) #USWNT

Tamerra @tamerra-griffin.bsky.social · 30/11/2024

think it’s safe to say this was one of the correct answers. Yazmeen Ryan’s service alone, such threatening through balls. and she’s playing the ball quickly, v good

Tamerra @tamerra-griffin.bsky.social · 30/11/2024

good enough, but as I go heat up some Thanksgiving leftovers at halftime, I have to wonder: where is the gravy on this #USWNT side that connects all the side dishes? where’s the tart cranberry sauce for a spark of something different?

Tamerra @tamerra-griffin.bsky.social · 30/11/2024

not naming names but this has been a humbling year for less pace-y players tasked with tracking the exceptionally fast ones. the chasm is growing and the girls are TIRED 😮‍💨 #USWNT (but club level too)

happy to see Jess Park and Jessica Naz in England’s starting XI tho — not only bc they’re fun to watch but their club performances earned them this opportunity. nice to see some porosity in the Lioness roster too tbh 👀

this #USWNT game at Wembley being the second most highly attended game (80k+) for them since the 99 World Cup (90k+) is something for US Soccer to ~hold space~ for imo. hoping for some “we have 80,000 fans at home” energy in the next few years
