Just overheard two college boys on the bus... "Yeah I've been big into retro games recently. Been playing a lot of Little Big Planet on my dad's PS3"

So, I recently finished watching the anime The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten. It was a decent romantic comedy. I liked the main characters and I really enjoyed watching their relationship evolve throughout the show. The supporting characters were decent as well.

It took me several tries to beat Benezia.

Despite some of my complaints, I liked Mass Effect 1. I enjoyed replaying it. It's a great experience. I might probably replay Mass Effect 2 in the future.

Finally, I think the A.I. for your companions could've been better. I had some instances where I would be walking somewhere and my companions wouldn't follow me or I would be shooting at an enemy and they would shooting in a different direction.

Tallblackguy @tallblackguy.bsky.social · 13/10/2026

The gameplay definitely shows its age at times. It can feel really janky in my opinion and I ended up dying more than I would've liked. I also do think the facial animations also show their age, although they were probably cutting edge for their time.

So, overall, I really liked my time with Mass Effect 1. I really enjoyed the story and its presentation. The characters were also really likable and I really enjoyed being able to explore the world and learn more about the different alien species. It was a fun experience but the game does have flaws

So, I just finished replaying Mass Effect 1 several minutes ago. I managed to beat the final boss on my first try. I also chose to save the citadel council and to nominate Captain Anderson as a member of the council. It took me over 15 hours to finish the game. That includes side quests.

Played some more Mass Effect this evening. I finished the Virmire mission. In my opinion, it's definitely one of the best missions in the game. Choosing whether to save Ashley or Kaiden gave the mission some weight. The reveal of what sovereign is was also really good. I'm getting closer to the end.

So, I just finished doing the Noveria mission in Mass Effect. Overall, it was decent. I thought that the fight with Matriarch Benezia was kind of annoying though and I died several times trying to beat her. I also chose to spare the Rachni Queen. After Noveria, I'm going to focus on side missions.

A little late but these are the 9 games that shaped me as a person. This was honestly tough because there are other games I could've put on here. So, have a look.

Overall, I'm enjoying my playthrough but I do think that the gameplay is showing its age. I also think that the A.I. for your companions isn't the best.

I just finished the Feros mission in Mass Effect 1. Overall, it was decent although the part where you have fight the Thorian creepers and the Asari clones was annoying. I died so many times although I managed to destroy the Thorian. I also managed to save most of the colonists.

110

Tallblackguy @tallblackguy.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

Played some more Mass Effect today. I did a few side quests and I'm currently doing the Feros mission. I chose Wrex and Ashley to join me. I'm having a good time playing the game. It can feel a little slow at times but I'm really invested in the story and characters.

Honestly, I prefer to play Fire Emblem with Permadeath turned off. I don't want to lose a character I like for good, either.

So, I've been replaying Mass Effect 1 on my Xbox 360 for the past few days. I'm having a nice time. I just finished recruiting Liara to my team. The gameplay and facial animations are a bit dated but I'm enjoying the story, characters and music.

So, I've been watching a lot of Danny Phantom lately. This show is really good and I feel like each episode I watch keeps getting better and better. I recently watched the episode with Ember and the episode was really good. Ember's song is quite catchy.

I've been getting back into watching anime lately. I watched episode 9 of Kanon and episode 10 of The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten. Kanon is great. I watched it back in High School and I still think the show still holds up. Angel Next Door isn't bad but it can feel a little slow at times.

110

Tallblackguy @tallblackguy.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

I did like the game overall, despite some of its flaws. It was a unique game filled with creativity. It's a shame that American McGee doesn't make games anymore. I definitely think people should give it a try.

010

Tallblackguy @tallblackguy.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

I also think that the final boss of the game felt very lackluster. It probably would've been better if there was no final boss at all. I also felt very mixed on the occasional changes in gameplay. Some of it was interesting and some of it just felt frustrating(especially in the Dollhouse level).

110

Tallblackguy @tallblackguy.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

Overall, I can see why people really liked the game. Now, the game had some aspects that really annoyed me. Personally, I wasn't a fan of how long some of the levels could be. This especially gets bad during the later parts of the game and it can make the game feel tedious at times.

110

Tallblackguy @tallblackguy.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

I'll start with the positives. I thought the story was pretty solid and the dark themes the game had were interesting. I also thought that the combat was fun and the art style of the game was really unique. I'll also say that the soundtrack of the game was pretty memorable.

110

So, yesterday I managed to finish playing Alice: Madness Returns. It took me over a week or so to finish the game. I played the game every morning before I left for work. Overall, I thought it was a decent game but there's some things that prevent it from becoming a masterpiece.

120

Tallblackguy @tallblackguy.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

I'm almost done playing through Alice: Madness Returns. I'll save my full thought on the game until after I'm done playing it but I think the game is decent but it has some aspects that really annoy me.

I've really been enjoying my playthrough of Alice:Madness Returns. The combat is fun and the platforming, while a little janky, has been keeping me engaged with the gameplay. The story is definitely getting more interesting. I'm enjoying trying to help Alice recover her memories.

020

Tallblackguy @tallblackguy.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

So, I've been playing Alice: Madness Returns on my PS3. I'm currently doing chapter 2. I'm liking it. I think the story and voice acting is pretty solid and I also really like the combat. The only gripe I have this that the game can look really blurry at times which strains my eyes.

020

Tallblackguy @tallblackguy.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

Frankly, I don't really get why some people online get so mad about remakes of older games. Not everyone wants to buy older consoles to play older games and not everyone is into emulation. Some of these older games haven't aged well so remaking them might be needed. Just my opinion.
