“What the—!” A redraw of an old piece from back in 2021. What do you think Nye and Akash have seen?? 👀

Are they professional? No. Are they prestigious? No. Are they always on the right side of law? No. Are they a reckless band of capable fools who always get the job done and get it done well? They call themselves Howling Steel…and you’re godsdamned right they are.

Nylander’s new ref…the bard of Howling Steel! The man, the myth, the bastard. Thanks for puttin up with all the refs lately, friends, I’ve been on the ref train and it feels good to update some designs for the characters going into the graphic novel!

“Exiled Keeper of the Libraries of Virrinor, Master of Knowledge, wouldst thou grant me trade? For my heart of hearts covets thy secrets” A deity known only as The Past, which possesses all knowledge of Noruena and its history. Knowledge, however, is not free.

“What was that sound?” “Nothing good. Keep low, stay quiet. We won’t be sleeping tonight.” . . Very old art….but I’m still fond of it. It holds a special place in my heart for being a redraw of an even older piece that solidified Soren’s story into what it is today!

“What will happen to them?” “If they’re lucky, they’ll be dead before the moon rises” Soren and Gavin’s journey takes them to many dangerous corners of Noruena — few more dangerous than the abandoned town of Bardford. Some secrets ought to remain as such.

An old comic I made back sometime in 2023, featuring a conversation between Gavin and Soren about the purchasing of a mule. This isn’t exactly canon anymore, but I still think it’s a simple and effective example of their characters. Enjoy!

Prof. Arabores, as a top professor at Alderwall University, has access to some exciting things that the public generally doesn’t see. With his excitable and sometimes reckless behaviour, having his protégé Gwen around can help balance his excitability with some logic. (Sometimes)

Soren as an adult — the ‘stipple’ skin condition worsens, and he has a few battle scars…but in the end he’s the same old Soren. This will be his appearance late into the graphic novel.

Soren tends to feel useless since becoming a dragon with not knowing how to properly operate his new body and travelling with 2 very capable companions. However, in small moments, he finds ways to feel like he still has some worth
