it completely rips out what makes dance fun and enjoyable to do and even watch because at the end of the day, it's what art is meant to be. we unfortunately had a very extreme case of it in our own community (iykyk).. like even then it shouldnt be our end all be all either. so many things in furry!

i too would be all in for western furry cons to do more showcase type events like i see a lot of asian cons do and they've been nothing but fun! definitely a lot less competitive and stressful. the main point here though is that some people percieve dance as an avenue purely for clout and

right? seems like nuance is lost completely in favor of short term gratification when it comes to these certain people. like there's definitely plenty other (and less stressful) ways to get that said joy but idk that's on them to find out im very glad i see dance as an art form now too

i don't think this is said enough but i feel like some dancer furs, especially newer ones, just get so stuck up with being at the top of dancing and i wonder if they even have any concept of having fun other than clout and rankings? like just be a fluffy animal, its not hard...

yeah like even if it’s a competition which can lay some prejudice that it’s treated more like a sport but at the end of the day dance is still art and while subjective, there’s good and bad art. can’t help but think of maybe one or two individuals we know of that treat it more like a clout ring 😔
