Thanks again to Francis for three excellent papers in a row. This is part of our work to draw and provide technical expertise on Taiwan for the UK Parliament, Government, and media. Everywhere is literally connected by cable or satellite now. There is no 'Splendid Isolation'.

The PRC, like many nations seeking to expand, often engages multiple vectors to do so. One of them is "scientific research". Some of it appears legit, some not so much, argues James Borton (Non-Resident Senior Fellow, Johns Hopkins, SAIS, Foreign Policy Institute). www.upi.com/Top_News/Wor...

Delighted to launch the 2nd paper researched and written by Francis Annagu @Learn_Ruffle for the TPC: how the UK can use its seat at ICAO to lobby hard for Taiwan to be included as a full member. Concrete policy ideas to plug this dangerous gap. Read it here: taiwanpolicycentre.com/research/pap...
The cover of the report shows the title, author, date, and a small undated photo from an airplane window of Taiwan Taoyuan Airport whilst the aircraft is parked at the gate. There is a small Taiwan (ROC) flag decorating the gate.

Of course Beijing knows that if the EU started applying that rule on external demand, not on internal assessment, then any non-EU country can submit a list of people, entire nationalities even, that they are in conflict with and say "it would threaten our int. rels. so ban them"

Another e.g. of PRC's long-running strategy to use all possible means to buy out and/or threaten any country with any kind of bilateral relations with Taiwan. At least UK response was appropriately brief. PRC telling others to follow rules is it? UNCLOS? www.theguardian.com/world/2026/j...

The UK was not thanked for supporting Taiwan's participation in Interpol this year b/c the UK did nothing to support it. We checked the archives. UK Govts supported Taiwan's inclusion btw 2019 and 2021. Thereafter they've been mute. If Taiwan is an ally, things like this matter.

Don't slap Taiwan to appease China to make a deal, we said. They'll take that as a new baseline for negotiations, then add another demand on top. And the deal you'll get in the end will entail you giving up your red lines/goals whilst the PRC keep theirs.
