Sometimes I'm happy that as a side effect of having a very busy job and often being socially drained on weekends, I don't usually dip too deep into most communities and so "drama" in any kind of form almost always comes to my ears second or third hand...

Dialects are such fun. It's good to speak in a way everybody understands, but each dialect has some expressions that you sorely miss in standard. Or that you may not realise aren't standard until someone from elsewhere stares at you dumbfounded! ... Though I guess this was more about accents.

And to be clear, this isn't about this specific show, which clearly is bad faith. And the UK media landscape sucks. But I'm sad that I don't see much any neutral or positive news about furry events in the UK in general, like I dunno, maybe from the Guardian or Independent or BBC or something.

Wanna say I think you're doing an amazing job at AC. Probably the best I've seen. EF also did alright, they even made it to the national news (web-only) and local (TV), which went pretty well with just some good-faith confusions. I don't know why this doesn't seem to work in the UK :(

As long as they don't mess with the art show too much in the shuffle. It may be one of my favourite events at EF now, and the best run such event at any con I've been to. AC doesn't hold a candle to its organisation, and smaller cons can't compete in scale. If only the closing wouldn't take hours.

The only thing they should improve is the time it the closing takes. Live bidding takes too long when you have a bid war, and people fumble with writing bids on stickers, then running out and needing another bid sheet... Make it a voice bidding and only record the final bid. 3+ hours is too much.

In general, EF's Art show is one of my favourite parts of the con. It's the best such event run at any con I've been to yet. The sheer scale, and it's organisation: the paying, the picking up, the packing up... AC's by comparison doesn't hold a candle, and smaller cons can't compete with the scale.

Back from EF, and it's art show time! Starting off with the only print (as opposed to original paintings) I won, it's Tanidareal's "That's my fetish!"

I don't know what they actually changed, because it looked similar in setup to '25, but AC '26 improved massively on the queueing.

That's pretty awesome! I did the opposite, went by car for the first time because we added a little road trip before EF. But good to know it's that easy.

Yep, got a very fair price for 2 people and a car, especially if you don't care about a window in your cabin... On an overnight crossing... Cost pretty much exactly the same as the tunnel shuttle on the way out to EF, and my god, was that an absolutely catastrophic shambles.
