9 years ago l was on a Ford playdate with the Mustang. I still remember being mortified by the quality of the American made interior. It was however forgiving..... Because l was enthralled by the way it went sideways just by looking at it.

What a weekend! New fire suppressant system fitted and new trim made for the sunroof in Barry. CV boots on Roberto. New resistor pack fitted to Bobby. Even fixed the feet of my workshop fan. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get the sparkly glue gun out on Toby.

Busy fleet day today. After the Castle Combe failure, Roberto is fixed and ready for Auto Italia on Saturday. Barry has a solar panel. Toby has some more metal to replace the metal that's missing. I have a Geely press car, so treated it to the smells of luxury.

Photos by Jeff Bloxham from this week's Guild of Motoring Writers BIG day out at Castle Combe. Had a blast in the X1/9 until the alternator started shrieking. Prior to that, this little Fiat was amazing. The 165 section tyres were like magnets to the road. Even in the wet.

My finest piece of welding and my not so finest. And all on the same job. I'd knocked a setting on the welder. Ended up with splatter and just a mess. And all because I'd unintentionally knocked my wire feed from 6 got to 7.
