I've been awarded a Fellowship at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, to develop a speculative astrophysics of #planetaryrings, viewing them through late-medieval thought— especially the ideas of the extraordinary mystical philosopher #RamonLlull. Read more here: medium.com/anotherplane...

An image of the planet Saturn with its rings, on which are superimposed one of Ramon Llull's circular figures, listing in Latin the 'dignities' or divine attributes: Goodness, Wisdom, Glory, Simplicity, Greatness, Will, Perfection, Nobility, Eternity, Virtue, Justice, Mercy, Power, Truth, Generosity, Dominion.

I’m looking forward to doing a talk about deep, planetary time at the University of Southampton on 11 March, hosted by PIRS pirs.soton.ac.uk, Building 44, Room 1087, 12.00-13.00 - I'll argue that it's a far more complex and rich idea than recognised by either proponents or critics. All welcome!
