i went to a stop-motion short film showcase on wednesday. i'd highly recommend BUZZ BOX (1985), so long as you don't have photosensitive epilepsy. #LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched

the film was EAT, an excellent short by barrett d. carroll about a cannibal luring victims via a kink app. boxd.it/fSDh2R

screenshot of a 4.5 star review on letterboxd that reads:

high marks for this film, which was visually stunning, viscerally shocking, & well acted.

negative marks for the woman in front of me who saw fit to bring her 6-year-old child to this block of short films at the queer screams festival. y'know, the sex & blood festival? then dared try to cover her child's eyes during the most gruesome scene, as if she were suddenly dropped there & didn't know what festival she was at. i have so much sympathy for parents - it's hard as fuck, & childcare isn't easy to find - but next time, either leave the kid at home or don't come. this wasn't a place for children, & i didn't appreciate having to think about the potential psychic impact on a child while trying to enjoy the movies.

i tried really hard to track down which story specifically this is from, but i've failed. however this is tagame's typical style & subject matter, so if this appeals to you, any of them will probably appeal.

uh yeah i had one big problem with THE SHEEP DETECTIVES which is that there weren't any sheep in it. just these mutant CGI beasts with rounded pupils. how're you gonna see predators with those??

a CGI sheep from the sheep detectives, with pupils that are rounded rectangles.

a real sheep with its freaky thin rectangular pupils.

working on a SCANNERS cross stitch. wish i had a better camera for photographing my work but i don't know anything about cameras & learning about them seems intimidating.

does goodreads really not have a way to share reviews to social media? well anyway

Three-star review of "The Haunted Vagina" by Carlton Mellick III: "Picked this up at a yard sale because how could I resist. Pretty fun, actually. Not as misogynistic as you'd expect, though mildly Orientalist. I guess I'm at a point in my life where I think a guy going spelunking in his girlfriend's vagina isn't that weird. Next time I'm at the Kennedy School I'm going to think, 'This is where Steve climbed into Stacy's vagina for the first time,' and I'm not so sure I'm happy about that."

hey everybody shut the fuck up for a second & look at what i found

A book titled "Build and Repair with Concrete" with an elderly Don Knotts on the cover. A blurb reads: "Don Knotts says: If I can do it, YOU can do it!" Don is holding a trowel and making a tough face.

Back cover of the book, featuring another photo of elderly Don Knotts.
