Several years ago a rally against Islamophobic immigration policies in m community was organized by one of the local Rabbis. I remember saying at the time, "If you've got the Muslims, Jews, Christians, and agnostics like joining together against your policies, you're on the WRONG side of history."

I'm glad there was a picture of Hunter Biden, or I might have thought this inspiring wisdom was written by the great Donald Trump Jr. --- Naaaaah! I totally would NOT have thought that! I challenge anyone to find written words from one of Trump's kids that offer such a positive message for others.

When toddlers throw a tantrum, adults can react to it and thereby let the toddler set the rules of engagement, or they can be the grownups: protect the child from harm but basically ignore the tantrum, until the child figures out it isn't working and stops. Toddler tantrums fizzle when not fed.

I've experienced that myself! I had just started a presentation at a gamedev conference (GDEX, Columbus OH) when the power to the podium dropped. Power was out for several minutes, then the projector's flapping HDMI wigged out my laptop's video driver. Reboot time. 50 minute slot, 11 minutes gone.

Did I opt in for this? No. Texts are an anxiety trigger for me, so other than essentials like flight cancellation notices and healthcare, I don't opt in for texts. The numbers are different every time, so blocking doesn't help. Read my lips: You cannot infuriate me so much I start throwing money.

I am so angry with my own political party and its candidates right now I could scream. Fundraising texts start about 8:00 a.m. most every day, interrupt my work all day long (often multiple per hour), and they set a new record tonight by texting me *after midnight*. (1 of 2)

From the USA, count me among those citizens who still stand 100% with Ukraine regardless of our leaders' feckless behavior and short attention span. You are not forgotten in our thoughts or our political activism here.

An RN (at that time) I know was deployed at Ground Zero and assigned to treating foot injuries for the SAR dogs (they had paw-boots but sometimes sharp debris got past). To combat depression of the dogs, they sometimes had a firefighter hide in the rubble for dogs to "find", as they'd been trained.

@bethesdaunion.bsky.social The latest layoffs are yet another demonstration of how corporate acquisitions and mergers are rarely good for customers, employees, or the economy -- only investors. There are *no* exclusives that would lure me to buy an XBox from the Microsoft overlords who did this.

Imagine a decentralized, renewable energy grid in which natural disasters or terrorist attacks could not cripple our infrastructure by destroying one location, maintained by American workers whose jobs can't be sent offshore. True conservative capitalists would love it. MAGA can't stand the idea.

So, I hear there are some hydrology problems in Washington DC. Rumor has it the brilliant leader on mission to "drain the swamp" has somehow managed to *create* a swamp instead. The goal was figurative, the failure literal. He has pegged the needle on the incompetence meter.

He and Tr*mp are examples (at opposite ends) of the truth that the best leaders are often those who least desire to be in charge, and the worst despots are those who most crave to rule others. Seldom have two contemporary leaders been so opposite in character.

In grade school (USA), I learned a patriotic song whose final words were, "Lift your flag with mine." It was about being proud of our country while respecting and welcoming others to be equally proud of theirs. It need not be a zero-sum game. This sports moment is a lesson in courtesy and decency.

I don't follow hockey (no disrespect, just not into sports except maybe curling), and I didn't know this about scoring players saluting the assisting teammate. Much respect for that sportsmanship and team focus. Thanks for this interesting bit of knowledge!

As a friend from the U.S., I understand Canadians' unwillingness to visit, and I don't blame you. It's on *us* to fix the mess created by the archaic Electoral College system, voter ignorance, and xenophobia that allowed a felon to become President without winning the popular vote. Peace.

U.S. citizens: Our best hope of stopping the dystopian catastrophe of MAGA is to *vote*. Protesting matters. Speaking out matters. Community organizing matters. Voting MAGA out of local, state, and federal elected offices *matters most of all*. Check your registration status. Vote early, in person.

Okay, my patterns are explained. They're real, but they are from the blood running as he was face-down under the protecting Secret Service agents. There's a photo that clearly shows those two tracks in exactly the right place to be caused by dripping blood. So...nothing to see here.

I have a question for someone well educated in design theory. When I look at Trump's taste in decor, I see a tawdry attempt at grandeur, pathetically missing any true elegance. Some people see the same decor projecting power, prestige, and wealth. What accounts for such strong preferences?

I haven't formed an opinion about theories of it being faked. Curious, I found the highest-res photo I could of the head right after the shot. I've marked up some interesting visual pathing, but I'm not sure what t conclude. The line inside the ear may be split skin *if* my shockwave theory holds.
Cropped portion of a photo of Trump's right cheek and ear after the shooting in Butler PA. Added yellow lines trace several apparent blood spatter patterns and possible split skin.

My personal theory is that the bullet didn't strike the ear, but missed by millimeters. The air pressure wave ruptured the skin. Shallow wound, quickly heals, but bleeds profusely -- as head wounds do. There wasn't voluminous blood -- but even a little looks scary around someone's face or head.

The new #GeometryNodes features in Blender 5.0 and 5.1 (@blender3d.bsky.social) are awesome! I've got a working prototype (which I'll share soon) of procedural motion graphics I couldn't do in 4.x that were easy in Blender 5. Great job on documentation, too, so often overlooked in other software. 👍

It's been over a decade since I messed with KDE, and I'm impressed with how it has evolved. Wayland + KDE Plasma solved one *major* pain point for me: I can set fractional scaling per monitor. My native 4K laptop now works *so* much better with FHD projectors and the spare monitor in my lab! [2/2]

I wrote both of my U.S. Senators and my U.S. Representative demanding Congress act to stop Trump's war crimes and threatened genocide before it's too late. My Representative is already on our side, so the wording there was supportive rather than confrontational. Protest. Speak. Vote. #NotInOurName

People criticize NASA and other science organizations for spending money "in space." Actually, they spend it on Earth, and this generates commercial spinoffs like microwave ovens, heart monitors, and microelectronics. Science gets a tiny fraction of what DoD and DHS waste every year killing people.

Watching live the POTUS radio call with the Artemis II crew. Trump babbles on and on, barely giving anyone else a chance to speak, then just lets the conversation dangle for so long that three of the four astronauts were *literally* twiddling their thumbs waiting. What a buffoon.

ICE has kept a disabled double amputee prisoner for over 14 months. Rodney Taylor has been denied access to his prosthetic legs. Forced to crawl across dirty floors to access food. Placed in solitary. Denied medical accommodations. They’re killing him & he needs the community to make noise!

At the exact moment of furthest distance from Earth, they should let her have the position in the capsule that is slightly further from earth, so a woman will hold the overall human record for a few years. Fair is fair, after all! (And for the record, I'm a man, and I'd be fine with that.)

Recently I repaired badly clipped audio from a nonpartisan civic group's public forum. I was constrained from using non-controversial neural network tools to estimate the lost waveform peaks because the moderator had specifically said we would use "no AI" in editing. Precise terminology matters.

According to #StephenColbert, the Trump administration is trying to scrub this photo because it is "unflattering" to the Press Secretary. I'm posting this public service announcement to help spread the word that this photo should be deleted immediately. "Refs unpersons doubleplusungood."
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt towers over an out-of-focus live turkey during the 2025 annual pardoning at the White House. The camera uses a wide angle lens from an extremely low angle in a style normally reserved for horror films. The turkey being foreground and out of focus makes that nauseating red stuff around its throat look even more repulsive than usual, suggesting an uncanny resemblence to Trump's innermost soul as if depicted in a Fox News documentary.
