I didn't even know /goal was a thing. I think that highlights the struggles that I have with these tools as they evolve so quickly. I really don't have the time to keep up. Ultimately, I would love to just be productive and not have to think about the tooling.

Claude has been so helpful for protecting my time. It means I can do much more in the time that I have. I constantly use it to give me the context on a PR or an issue so that I spend much less time ramping up. That has always been the biggest killer of my productivity for open source work.

Is Amp a large step forward and also a small enough learning curve that it's worth it for someone like myself with limited free time for coding? I don't really do much coding at work anymore but I maintain a few popular open source repos. I only get so much time to work on it so I am protective

Ok I'll bite. I pretty much only use Claude code today. It has made me much more productive than I was without it. I have found it to be more useful than GitHub Copilot since I have made the switch. I don't find it lacking but maybe there's even more than I'm missing. I'm here for the conversation.

Am I the only one whose toddler mentions Ariel (the mermaid princess) and their mind immediately associates it with and starts singing System of a Down's Aerials? No? just me?

There was probably a great explanation but the fans won't see that for maybe hours. The damage is already done. They will remember being robbed of a green flag finish.

After the Abu Dabi debacle a few years ago, race control should have very clear procedures for safety cars and everyone should understand them. The fact that the safety car was ending and then didn't is a real violation of trust. They should have had an immediate explanation. #F1 #BritishGP

I say this as I sit in a dark room with my second after a feed, waiting to feel confident that she is asleep enough that I can put her back in the bassinet without her waking up and starting the process all over again.

That sticks around for quite a while before you build up enough trust. With my first I remember standing beside the bassinet with my phone's backlight trying to see her chest rise and fall through the layers of onesie and swaddle to let me know she's still breathing.

Violate the budget and you shift focus to reliability work and reducing risk. You make deployments better and you fix the things that burned the error budget. To me, it's all about having a metric that objectively tells you if you're being too risky or how much risk you can tolerate.

The error budget itself represents the acceptable risk. Even if you have "poor" practices, if things are within that risk tolerance, there's no need to dedicate resources to being more resilient. You can keep focused on features or gaining customers.

I think there's another take on error budgets that's much more relatable to any sized company. I see it as a gauge to balance risk with speed. On one end you moved too fast and broke things. On the other, governments move faster and you were probably too careful. It's useful as a feedback mechanism.

For me, home improvement projects are a big reason I wanted to own a house. I have had a few contractors do projects and I'm always disappointed in the quality of the details. I keep saying that nobody cares about your project like you care.

My grandfather would call those people "chreasters" because they only went to church for Christmas or Easter

We bought an almost identical chair for our daughters nursery. Might be one of the best purchases we have ever made. I have spent many nights sleeping in that chair.

The part about Gen x references that got bleeped out had me in stitches. It had no business being that funny. 10/10.
