Checked our Cuisinart food processor blade and wow. Turns out there is a recall about this, so was able to get a free replacement. Thanks @cpsc.gov

The latest GOES satellite image shows a clear smoke-plume covering the entire Great Lakes region. You can tell it's smoke because it's dirtier than the white clouds.

This intaglio plate will get etched and aquatinted this weekend. There will be like 5 steps of aquatint because I'm extra.

5x7 copper plate covered in a dark brown ground. The design scribed into the ground reveals lines of bright copper. View out of a window of another brick building, at least four floors up, of regular stops land double hung windows. One window has an air conditioner hanging in it, two with window mounted double fans.

Found another one in the archives. Again, a year ago (February 2, 2025). This was during the DOGE apocalypse, and they targeted Lutheran Family Services for being a "religion."

Elon Musk on X says "The DOGE team is rapidly shutting down these illegal payments". The quoted post is from General Mike Flynn: "Now it's the "Lutheran" faith (this use of "religion" as a money laundering operation must end): Lutheran Family Services and affiliated organizations receive massive amounts of taxpayer dollars, and the..." Plus two unreadable screenshots of what look to be a spreadsheet.

This is very lovely. The recipe says 2/3rds cup butter, but I've found that a half cup butter plus a quarter of shortening makes cutting less likely to fracture the whole thing.

Here is an attempt in miniature. The tiles here are roughly 5mm by 10mm. Hot wire cut foam.

A 4x4 block of painted mini tiles, alternating red and blue. Each block is composed of four sub blocks of two rectangular tiles. Sub blocks have four colors in each, variations on red and blue.

Broke a drought of over a decade to slam through a quilt. A friend is having her first, and that means baby-quilt. Absolutely not my best work by a long shot, but this thing will get poop on it at some point. Also, if those cat faces aren't drawn in by age 5 I'll be surprised.

A crib-sized quit made of the silhouettes of cats; four vertical, two wide. The columns are different densities of blue (left) and pink (right) fading to pale as it rises. Quilting on the top pair of cats is reminiscent of tuxedo and patched cats. The second pair is more tabby. The third pair abstract tabby, the bottom pair is hard to make out due to contrast issues but also is patchy.

Here are two views of our observation spot. The brighter one was taken at about 15 to 20% totality, which means you can't really tell. The other one was during totality. We had a temperature drop of about 15 degrees!
