Oh but that's the great weakness of elder dragons. They're so full of themselves! They can't admit anything is wrong, so when someone asks, they say they're fine, and enjoying themselves. Thus they're not really fighting back, and soon, they start baa-ing with their reflections.

But if she doesn't like the victim, or they're a bad person, then she'll make the curse stronger, so when the person goes for help, the only help they'll find is their friends offering to take care of them when it's done, because they think the dragon changed their own reflection.

Take for instance the buff elder dragon she curses with a reflection of a diaper dependent sheep scout that sells cookies. If she's causing mischief without harm or likes the dragon, he can resist and as long as he doesn't like what's happening, he can break the curse.

I can't recall if they ever say in the movies, but I do vaguely recall in the books from like 15 years ago that the snitch is supposed to take hours/days to find for professionals (it's implied the kids use a slower one) and since it only gives 150 points, you could catch it and lose if your behind.
