FOSS first is this customer's default, with one exception: "usually id go for something FOSS but with a mac id rather pay for software, thanks". Does the OS decide that for you too, or is it the thing the software has to do?

Weighing a KVM switch against software, this customer asked Gemini, which pointed at Synergy: "I need to swap to mac and back to pc at times. Gemini recommended I try synergy vs buying a kvm switch." Has a model ever sent you to a tool you'd never heard of?

AWDL can interrupt a Mac's Wi-Fi mid-session, which looks like the app or the router losing it. Synergy 3 (v3.7.2) detects it, tells you, and offers one click to switch it off. symless.com/synergy/down...

Someone is copying images bigger than 100MB between machines and hitting the ceiling. Their ask, word for word: "Copy paste image don't max at 100mb only." What's the biggest thing you've tried to paste from one machine to another?

Counterintuitive bit about Synergy Dragon: it doesn't retire anything. Synergy 1 and Synergy 3 both keep shipping updates. Dragon is a third app to try alongside them, sharing the same core engine, so improvements land in all three at once.

Quick clarification on licensing: if you buy a Synergy license with your own money, it's yours, for anything, including work. Freelancer, contractor, one-person business, all fine. Business licenses are for when an organization buys, reimburses, or manages the license.

Nice use case from a customer this week: desktop PC has no camera or mic, laptop does. They join Zoom on both, and drive the whole thing with one keyboard and mouse via Synergy. No USB webcam shuffling, no swapping headsets between machines.

Sime-less. Sim-less. Seam-less. Even the founder isn't sure how Symless was meant to be pronounced. So we've retired the name. The company is now called Synergy, same as the product. Nothing about your license, serial key or renewals changes.

Honest question from a 10/10 review: did we bury the setup wizard? A customer got both machines paired eventually (with some help from Google's AI), loved the one-time license, and rated us a 10. But they think a first-launch walkthrough would've saved the headache. Fair note. Taking it.

Mini PC on one side of the desk, laptop on the other. A customer just wanted one keyboard and mouse to reach both. That's it. No dock swap, no Bluetooth pairing dance. It's a small workflow win, but it's the one people notice every single day.

The most Synergy thing about Dragon: it will talk to Synergy 1 in both directions. Let a Synergy 1 client join a Dragon network, or run a Dragon computer as a Synergy 1 client. Covers the machines auto discovery can't reach. Synergy 3 bridging isn't planned, its protocol is a much bigger job.

One keyboard, one mouse, three machines on the desk. That's the whole pitch for a lot of our customers: main peripherals driving a desktop, a laptop, and something else, without a hardware KVM in the middle. No switch button, just move the cursor.

Sime-less. Sim-less. Seam-less. In the last decade we've heard all three, sometimes in the same meeting. The founder isn't sure either, and he named it. So we've retired Symless. The company is now just Synergy, same name as the thing we make.

A lot of people assume Synergy went closed source at some point. It didn't. Synergy 1 is still open source, and it's the core Synergy 3 is built on. Upstream of both is Deskflow, maintained in the open. That isn't changing with the rename.

The Open Source Pledge only counts money paid externally. But in 2025 our in-house team also spent about 600 hours (roughly 30% of dev time) on Deskflow and the libraries around it. Rewrote the IPC layer over Qt local sockets, overhauled the Windows daemon.

Buy a Synergy license with your own money? It's yours. Use it for work, side projects, whatever. Business licenses exist for orgs that need procurement, SLAs, central config, and policy controls. That's the distinction, not personal vs professional.

PC on one side, Mac on the other, one keyboard between them. The tricky bit: Cmd and Ctrl live in different places. A Synergy 3 Lite user solved it by remapping modifier keys per machine so muscle memory keeps working across both.
