The Nerd function is a homomorphism under multiplication
Page from Katok's Fuchsian Groups.

Corollary 5.2,2. If F is an algebraically closed field, then for any a and b, $A = (\frac{a,b}{F}) \approx M(2,F)$.

Let $\iota: A \to A$ be the standard involution of A given by the formula $\iota(x) = \bar{x}$, where $\bar{x}= x_0 - x_1 i - x_2 j - x_3 k$ is called the conjugate of x. Then Trd(x) = $x + \bar{x} = 2x_0$ is called the reduced trace of x, and Nrd(x) = $x\bar{x} = x_0^2 - x_1^2 a - x_2^2 b + x_3^2 ab$ is called the reduced norm of x. Notice that Trd(x) = $Tr(g_x)$ and $Nrd(x)=det(g_x)$, where $g_x = \varphi(x)$ is given by the formula (5.2.4). Obviously

Nrd(xy) = Nr(x)Nrd(y), Nrd(1)=1.

Theorem 5.2.3. A is a division algebra if and only if Nrd(x)=0 only for x=0.

genocide of Palestinians. To draw more attention to their cause, they staged the protest in a central area of campus where protests are not permitted without authorization. One of these students was my own advisee, and having supported her throughout the the months-long case, I can state with confidence that she did nothing wrong.

Highlighted: Moreover, she happens to be deaf and was suspended in part for being “unreasonably loud.” (End highlight)

Privacy considerations prevent me from saying more about her case here, but let me just add that I will always be angry with Cornell for how they treated her. And Momodou Taal, an international Ph.D. student, was ultimately suspended twice

Franz Liszt
edit
During an 1842 rehearsal in Weimar, Franz Liszt reportedly interrupted the orchestra with the request, “Gentlemen, a little bluer, if you please,”[8] later clarifying that a passage should not sound “so rose,” but instead “deep violet”. These remarks, recorded in Neue Berliner Musikzeitung, suggest that he conceived of orchestral timbre in explicitly chromatic terms. At the time, synesthesia had not yet been formally recognized as a neurological condition, yet Liszt consistently described musical sonorities through color language, including statements such as, “This tone type requires it… That is a deep violet, please, depend on it!”. Conic Sections Rebellion

Article Talk

The Conic Sections Rebellion, also known as the Conic Section Rebellion, refers primarily to an incident which occurred at Yale University in 1830,[1] as a result of changes in the methods of mathematics education.[2] When a policy change dictated that students were required to draw reference diagrams for exams rather than be allowed to refer to diagrams in their textbooks, students staged a rebellion in which they refused to take the exams at all. Because of this, 43 of the 96 students were expelled.

A chalkboard drawing of a genus 2 surface with two simple closed curves drawn on it. A pink curve loops from the middle of the left-hand side of the left-hand hole, down around the bottom of the hole, to the middle of the left-hand side of the right-hand hole, then back to where it started on the back side (shown by dotted line) around the top of the left-hand hole. A blue loop does the same starting on the right-hand side of the right-hand hole, up around to the right- hand side of the left-hand hole, then dotted down and back around to the start.

Emilio didn’t know Mexican Sign Language when he arrived, which differs from Venezuelan Sign Language. Many countries in Latin America have their own forms of sign language, even if Spanish is a dominant language across the region.

Deaf immigrants also risk having poor-quality interpreters for sign languages other than American Sign Language during the deportation process, as the United States doesn’t recognize any certification process specifically for other sign languages. Interpreters are essentially taken at their word that they can interpret well in non-ASL forms of sign language.
