Eila and Something Shiny is a cool solo adventure board game. Only played the tutorial, but I like looping event / deck system. Interested in seeing the other mechanisms they add in the campaign. Though it does feel like a one playthrough & done kinda game, low replayability. #boardgames

Snowdale Design's Lands of Galzyr has cool ideas, kinda like a choose-your-own adventure in a cozy low stakes world with dice checks. Between this & Stonemaier's Vantage, I prefer Vantage's narrative flow & mechanics. Though I'd love to a see a PC game version of Galzyr. #boardgames

Almost Innocent is a co-op deduction game which is a cross between Clue & I've seen some compare it to Sudoku. I didn't feel Sudoku in this one as much as Tiwanaku, which I feel is a better deduction game & has a competitive mode...I'm not a big fan of co-op games. #boardgames

I'm not sure why La Patisserie Rococo exists. It's said to be a re-imagining of Rococo, which is a game I love, but it feels clunkier than the original, a draft was added per round but thematically I'm not sure why we're drafting the cards (workers), & the UI is a big downgrade. #boardgames

After playing more, my impression has changed. The Initiative is a solid family coop puzzle experience, but as the game progresses the RNG gets to be too much without a way to mitigate. The action economy doesn't grow, but you have to sift through more randomness to win. Fun, but just ok.

Septima is a beautiful game and the deluxe edition is well done. It’s a shame the gameplay is boring and repetitive: move, get resources, make potions, heal. The witch trials which should be the highlight, feel random. #boardgames

Moon Colony Bloodbath was probably my favorite game of 2025. It’s a game where you have to get your engine / strategy going as fast as possible, cause once the disasters start, they just keep piling on with no respite. Like Galaxy Trucker, what you make will break, don’t get attached #boardgames

I love Wingspan, one of my top 20 games. I was pleasantly surprised by Wingspan Pocket. Streamlines the experience with more randomness. Nice “express” version of its big brother. It won’t replace Wingspan, but I enjoyed it more than Finspan. I have yet to try Wyrmspan. #boardgames

Rhein: River Trade, also by the designers of ZhanGuo, has some interesting semi-coop mechanics: needing to share transports between players. However, it's a really dry theme & doesn't work well at low player counts. Without 4 or 5 opponents, you're doing everything by yourself. #boardgames

I'd thought I'd like Kingdom Crossing from the designers of ZhanGuo. The idea of combing action selection with traversing an Euler circuit sounds cool but the rest of the game gets in the way. Too fiddly, can't plan cause of how quickly the market changes, & card draw randomness. #boardgames

Mythwind wants to be a cozy board game, but is bogged down by too many rules & mini games. If you want cozy, play Cozy Stickerville. No win / loss conditions like Mythwind, but the actions are much simpler, giving you time & space to create a narrative with the stickers. #boardgames

The core mechanics of Inferno were great, descending souls into the circles of hell grants you access to various worker placement spots. The problem is everything else is fiddly: different worker types, barrels bonuses, guests in your tower, etc. More often than not, less is more. #boardgames
