..and here are some Stonking Stingray WIP images 🙂. #art

Stonking Stingray - Work in Progress and Final Artwork

I. Very rough sketches, trying to find the best fitting color palette with Krita
In the end I chose the sandy color palette, it helped to paint a day and night scenario.

II. One of a few renders - created with Blender
Several experiments with position, light and scale.

III.
a) Blender Detail Image (close up of some of the buildings where you can see figures having a party on the roof)
Modelling each object.
Adding more light.
One by one placed by hand.

b) Krita Detail image (same close up)
New colors.
Masking every area for flexibility (the possibility to change all the colors of each item)
Adding details (figures, animals).

IV. Final artwork

Meet 🌟 Stonking Stingray 🌟. Created with Krita, Blender and 1% Gimp - GNU Image Manipulation Program. It took a month to paint it. Inspired by the Ubuntu release name 26.10 scheduled for release on October 15! #art

A colorful stingray portrait inspired by Ubuntu release name 26.10, created with Krita, Blender and 1% Gimp - GNU Image Manipulation Program.

There are at least 220 species of stingrays. The cownose ray caught most of my attention, probably because it looks so cute. Stonking, a British slang adjective, describes something massive or heavy, something extremely good (no pressure!) or impressive.

The stingray spends most of the time on the ground of the ocean.
It camouflages by burying itself in the sand.

Therefore I was drawn to the moment it casts a shadow on the ocean floor.
The shadow developed into an oasis in the desert surrounded by sand dunes and puffy clouds. It also resembles the nights sky on its belly.

This tiny oasis (at least in comparison to the giant stonking stingray floating above) is celebrating the annual stingray festival. You can see lots of tents in different sizes, sand buildings, flora (palm trees & shrubs), stingray kites, fire places, boats, jetties. You can also get a glimpse of the inhabitants celebrating with their friends, families, visitors and pets.

This stingray is also giving everybody a cooling break from the extreme heat in the desert. A special moment captured for eternity.
Happy Stonking Stingray Day! :)

It took a month to finish this artwork.

Have you noticed, lately, or noticed people around you commenting, that there just seems to be no money anymore. There's no money for companies to make the tv shows you like, the video games you like, the local diner you like shut down, no one you know can find a job. Think about that in context of

John Falter- Sunday Gardening (1961) Oil on panel 🌿 Source: www.reddit.com/r/Art/commen... #art

On the left side we can see a beautiful terraced house with a groomed garden. Every single blade of grass was cut to perfection. On the terrace there are two empty chairs and a table with a TV broadcasting an exciting baseball game. The dog is also perfectly groomed but looks pretty stressed. It's owner is at work trying to cut the already perfect looking hedge in an even more perfect shape while smoking a pipe with a pretty unrelaxed posture. His face looks highly focused and stern. He is so obsessed and can't enjoy what he has been working on with such eagerness.

On the right side, we see his neighbor's house and garden. Everything looks pretty worn-down and messy. Toys and tools cover the floor. His hedge looks pretty wild and nature has been the only decorator here. The neighbor's dog is sleeping, such a chill vibe! It's owner has the best day ever and is taking a nap. Sitting laid back in a comfy wooden chair with his feet on the terrace railing. His face is covered by a newspaper. Some newspaper pages were already read and are chaotically lying around him. He is so relaxed and even kept his socks on. In all this chaos he has no problem to enjoy this beautiful Sunday.

I've pre-released my newest artwork on www.patreon.com/sylviaritter. Featuring another member of this series (45 so far) - 🌟 Mantic Minotaur 🌟 . #art

- Magical Mantic Minotaur has divining and prophetic powers. This Minotaur can tell you what the future will bring. The spread of tarot cards floating in front of this majestic body shows the Wheel of Fortune (for good luck), Six of Wands (for victory), and The Chariot (for determination). Other cards not yet picked are magically floating around this scenery. The hands of the Minotaur wearing white gloves are above the glowing crystal bowl helping to read the happenings of the next few centuries. A very meditative state. Above the head of the Minotaur, we can see the third eye shedding light for a more accurate reading. All is well according to the slight smile of this prophet. - https://www.deviantart.com/sylviaritter/art/Mantic-Minotaur-973691018

New artwork - King of Swords 💫 Sharpness, intelligence, logic, authority and power are associated with this card. I chose the secretary bird as king. It symbolizes divine majesty. #art #krita

Sharpness, intelligence, logic, authority and power are associated with this card. I chose the secretary bird as king. This Suit's element is air, the black feathers behind its head looked like swords and this bird symbolizes divine majesty.

The secretary bird is wearing a crown and a little monarch butterfly is flying above it, depicting conscious and unconscious mental processes.

The feathers of the wings are also reflecting the sword theme, gleaming in pastel colors. It is night, the sky is clear and full of stars. The crescent moon, and the butterfly, are reminders not to misuse power, be less controlling and speak from the heart more frequently.

Tomorrow the next tarot card will be released 🪐. Featuring - Page of Swords 💫

Page of Swords, which I've created with Krita. This card is about communication, curiosity, ideas, and speaking out. Sometimes even gossip.

I've chosen a young energetic meerkat. The turbulence can be felt through its fur. Due to the overwhelming desire for adventure, it can't focus on everything, so this meerkat can't see the sword. It can be found in the background, looking like a shooting star, surrounding Earth behind the head of the Meerkat. Since I read that the page of swords is sometimes also seen as a spy, I thought it would be great to let it look slightly like an astronaut. Planet Earth resembles in this artwork the helmet of an astronaut slightly. Of course, we see the side of the globe where the Meerkat has its natural habitat. This little fella keeps everyone up to date. Even the clouds look here and there like meerkat companions. They are listening to what it has to say about the current state of this precious planet. The clouds around planet Earth could be seen as soundwaves to emphasize how much this young meerkat loves to communicate.

In April, I've participated in the Paint Over Fast Competition at Revision 2026. ⭐️ Finishing Touches ⭐️ (inspired by a chaos picture) was created within less than 24 hours including sleep and breaks. #art #krita #demoscene

A little homage to the demoscene, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demoscene, one could say. :)
In front we can see tables and computer equipment (different kinds of computers, a fan, drinks, snacks, lots of cables, keyboards. Five diverse looking, some of them ocean inspired, party people focus on one particular PC screen. It belongs to one of them demonstrating a demo tool. The others are making music with their synthesizer, giving feedback, listening to party announcements with a headset (probably a party organizer) and the shy little one in the right corner is trying its best to participate.
To make the background more lively, I added dancing creatures/aliens in front of the big screen that shows abstract and colorful patterns (probably a demo production from one of the party visitors),. Party speakers are bringing powerful music to the dance floor and everybody is having a great time.
We had 24 hours to finish the artwork (including sleep and breaks).
Many thanks to my wonderful friend and illustrator mouldyCat for providing the chaos picture paintover.3eyed.net/.

🔥 🌿 Here are also some WIP & detail images of Resolute Raccoon #art

Process of Resolute Raccoon
I. One of a few renders (side view) - created with Blender
II. Creating the Keys:
a.I've painted the designs in Krita, black on white background
b. Then I loaded the image into Inkscape. Under Path > Trace Bitmap I've turned the .png into an .svg.
c.Imported the .svg to Blender. I only kept the handles (extruded the designs) and modeled the rest of the key in Blender.
III. Every key was one by one placed by hand.
IV. Three detail images (raccoon, lamp/fire light, flower)
V. The final artwork (56 days of work) was painted with Krita.

Raccoons are problem solvers and capable of opening doors. So I had the idea to give it a real tough conundrum. Finding the last key to open the vault filled with lots of fine treasures.
It is night and a lantern provides warm light. The vault is rusty and surrounded by nature. Branches with leaves and blue flowers are following a stony background to the center of attention.
This little raccoon already found the perfect fit for seven keys. Standing on a pile of several hundreds tossed attempts while trying to get nearer to its goal.
In its left hand holding a ring with three keys with several metal materials and with the right hand a possible solution, a silver key, too busy to turn around and greet us.
We are all rooting for you, Resolute Raccoon. Your bravery will be rewarded :).
