Gamer, movie buff, science nerd. Politically centrist. Extremism happens on both sides. The Trump cult is the worst example. Also, DEI destroys creative freedom in entertainment. No more hetero romance, no more historically accurate period films. Sad.

I think it's Mar🐫 actually.

It starts with persecution of immigrants. Then comes mass deportations. Before long, internment camps. You know what comes next, right?

The president should not have authority to fire an inspector general at all. That's just ludicrous to allow a president to fire the few people who have the ability to raise alarms about corruption in the executive branch.

No, Russia and China don't ban foreign social media for spreading misinformation. They ban foreign social media because they can't control it. Trump doesn't have that problem since Musk and Zuckerberg have sworn allegiance to the orange dictator.

What do Musk and Zuckerberg have in common? They both love China.

It all started when McConnell denied Obama's Supreme Court nominee.

McConnell and Senate Republicans betrayed the country many times during Trump's first term, but none were more egregious than the two impeachments in which they refused to even allow evidence to be presented. They are responsible for whatever happens in the next 4 years.

Infamous and notorious aren't the words I'd use to describe Trump. How about corrupt, criminal piece of sh**.

Oh, it's going to be better than that. The guy with resources of the US government vs the guy with unlimited wealth (plus Twitter and his own network of spy satellites) in the ultimate power struggle. The good news: Musk may soon lose all those government contracts with SpaceX and Tesla.

Well, I made this fun meme before I got the news of the "looming" MAGA civil war. (Sorry, bad pun.) But here's the meme anyway. Watching Donnie and Elmo destroy each other will be the epic of the 21st century. Sooner than expected too.

Musk wants to destroy Wikipedia because he thinks it will benefit the AI chat tools that he co-owns.

I support DEI when it comes to information resources. It is needed to prevent bias in such information. I think Wikipedia is quite balanced in its content. Now the entertainment industry is not doing so well with regards to "forced" DEI and that's a fact. Stifling creativity for representation.

Obviously liberals are boycotting Tesla and most conservatives don't believe in clean energy. Tesla rentals are sure to be controversial with Musk and Trump being official co-dictators.

The fact that we might need such services to protect people from a US president is truly frightening. Feels like our country has become a banana republic. Thank you for your offer of assistance for those who may need it.

So this cardinal thinks when Jesus said "love thy neighbor" it only applies until the neighbor has something you want and you decide to take it from him?

This is insanity. CNN talking like this is a serious proposal from a normal president. It's not normal. Trump is actively harming diplomatic foreign relations before he's even sworn in.

Just remember, it took at least one Republican vote to get it released in the first place.

Well, I don't think Johnson really wanted Gaetz to be AG, but like other MAGA members in Congress he will never defy the cult leader.

Good stuff, Ben. Congratulations. Mainstream media signed its own death certificate when the media corps started capitulating to the new Trump/Musk regime in advance. The media had a mandate to bring us facts about elected officials, not to kiss the ring for fear of retribution.

He bought a US president for $300 million, other countries' politics are much cheaper to influence, I'm sure.

A bigger threat is that Musk may have similar plans to take control of European governments. He's the richest person on Earth with his own network of hundreds of communications satellites and his own propaganda platform. This is a global threat.

For Musk, the return will be much larger than the investment. He bought Twitter and a US president for $45 billion and will end up $100 billion richer by the end of the next presidential term.

Since Elon was not a natural born US citizen, he can't run for president. So he did the next best thing. He bought a president.

I've been a resistor since 2017, even though I haven't physically been in the US. My wife got her immigrant visa a couple months ago. I thought I would be giving her a better life under Harris, but now we could end up losing everything under Trump.

Well, that's partly true. But it's also true that red states will undoubtedly suffer worse than blue states, because Democratic governors and state legislatures will push back on Trump's crazy agenda. Republicans will be complicit.

British colonization brought white people to South Africa. That started the chain reaction that created Elon Musk. Proof that British colonization was a horrible thing!

I don't share this guy's apparent resentment towards women, but I can see a future in which humanoid robots have medical uses for socially impaired men and women. Of course, the technology has a long way to go before it can fully imitate human interaction.

Sylvan Snake @sylvansnake.bsky.social · 16/12/2024
You bring up a good point. All those medical dramas from 80s and 90s would have been totally different if adequate focus was put on the concept of health insurance companies.

I think you should add in the 8 years of sane-washing everything that Trump says and does. Also, the news media should have file lawsuits for all the times Trump publicly attacked the free press, which had the effect of normalizing such first amendment violations.

Meidas Touch is great, but I think the prediction was referring to mainstream news outlets. Vanity Fair is putting forth a good showing so far. The editorial staff has been quite brutal in their criticism of Trump.

Well, if you cancel Time and Washington Post, you can subscribe to VF and have enough leftover for a nice meal at IHOP.

This headline from VF makes me smile.

Vanity Fair. A small beacon of hope in this frightening situation in which corporate news organizations are tripping over each other to kiss the ring of the new oligarch leader. I wish the executives and staff of VF success in holding the line of honest journalism.

Sylvan Snake @sylvansnake.bsky.social · 14/12/2024
We need to make a lit of all the aspiring oligarchs who have courted Trump since the election.

Sylvan Snake @sylvansnake.bsky.social · 13/12/2024
There are so many parts of the Constitution that have been abandoned, I feel like the founding document is a myth. Emoluments, impeachment, first amendment rights, Article I authority over advice/consent and the budget, 14th + 25th amendments. None of it seems to deter Trump.

Sylvan Snake @sylvansnake.bsky.social · 13/12/2024
Yes, it started with Nixon. That was the start of the precedent of presidential immunity. The failure to prosecute Nixon and Trump for their crimes while in office may be what ends American democracy.
000
Sylvan Snake @sylvansnake.bsky.social · 13/12/2024
The American electorate has become complacent and self-absorbed over the years, thinking that democracy and our Constitution made us better than everyone else. That the rest of the world owes us special treatment. Our democracy has been on life support for years. Now it's beginning to break.

The billionaires are lining up to be part of the Trump/Musk oligarchy. I'm totally not surprised.

Sylvan Snake @sylvansnake.bsky.social · 13/12/2024
I could also add the extremely unprecedented interference by the world's richest man, hosting an election lottery and running pro-Trump propaganda 24/7 on his own social media platform while suppressing left-leaning accounts on the same platform.
000
Sylvan Snake @sylvansnake.bsky.social · 13/12/2024
I'm also a centrist and I disagree with this guy.
000
Sylvan Snake @sylvansnake.bsky.social · 13/12/2024
The results of this year's election were fraudulent due to lack of enforcement or observance of several parts of the Constitution. Particularly, the sham impeachment trials led by McConnell and the non-enforcement of the 14th amendment. He should have not even been on the ballot.

Oh god, this is literally vomit-inducing. Another one to join the new oligarchy. Corporate media has truly and utterly fallen. MSNBC, CNN, Washington Post, Time Magazine, LA Times. The list keeps growing.
