Peanut butter just out of reach and unpleasant heat are an odd pair. Some of the same hypothalamic neurons respond to both. Following those cells revealed a functional division in LH GABAergic circuits. New in Cell Reports 🧵 doi.org/10.1016/j.ce... 1/8

Delighted to share our new paper in @natmetabolism.nature.com: “Parabrachial neurons orchestrate cold-induced homeostatic responses” We identify a physiologically defined PBCold population that coordinates a remarkably broad repertoire of cold-adaptive responses. 🧵 www.nature.com/articles/s42...

Very nice to see our work accompanied by a News & Views from Óscar Freire-Agulleiro and Miguel López. Many thanks for this thoughtful perspective on PBCold neurons, cold adaptation, and their implications for energy metabolism! ❄️🧠

Excited to begin a six-month sabbatical @rockefeller.edu. Deeply grateful to Dr. Jeffrey Friedman—whose discovery of leptin opened a new molecular era in understanding obesity and energy balance—for the opportunity to work in his laboratory. Looking forward to the science and collaborations ahead!

#Gastronauts #Biosphere2 in the middle of the Sonoran Desert 🌵 Morning yoga, sunrise run to the old campus (w/ Elena Gracheva), incredible Southwestern food, wild turkey chase, and the Milky Way every night! Truly beyond a conference. science, nature, and people made it sacred.

A drop of milkshake takes a wild ride as it passes through the body. Rachel and Kiersten and the team came up with cool strategies for visualizing food passing through the mouse GI tract and mapping the activity of the same 100s of brainstem neurons across weeks during feeding and other behaviors.
