Syfaro @syfaro.net · 03/10/2026realizing I've been using the same banner art on sites for over 7 years ... and I still love it every time I see it 🎨 @compoundeyes.bsky.social 27413
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 14/09/2026scheduling a monthly scrub is probably great except for when the scrub takes almost a month to complete (I'm completely saturating the pool with reads, it'll speed up when that's done lol) 1150
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 08/09/2026do you think they’re building this datacenter for AI-assisting security cameras for building datacenters 2181
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 16/07/2026it's always correct to call foxes good while you tug their leash excellent ych from @remywolf.bsky.social that I'm just now remembering to post 129435
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 07/07/2026This Meshtastic node I brought to AC had surprisingly good range, could hit it from all around the area directly. The suction cup deployment worked pretty well. 1170
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 26/05/2026I think it's finally time to retire the Android phone I've been using as a test device. 12 years is a good life, but the battery apparently swelled up enough that it's detaching the adhesive on the screen... I could replace the battery but there's not even aftermarket ROM support at this point. 2161
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 25/05/2026Although I learned some interesting things about Linux memory management when deploying this. If you don't have enough memory for huge pages the latency gets wildly more variable! This was after redeploying it when a test job was using way more memory than it should have been. 140
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 25/05/2026Learned about a better way to efficiently query hamming distances against a dataset ("Fast Search in Hamming Space with Multi-Index Hashing") and compared to the BK tree approach I was using before it's a 90% decrease in median latency and 80% decrease in RAM usage and that's wild. 3123
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 29/03/2026Well, the AC definitely works in here at least. It’s still dropping in temp. 2130
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 21/03/2026Finally got around to revisiting cut line generation in this alternate client for the PixCut S1 and it's working much better now. All the tiny details are getting properly attached to the main shapes. Also added some basic features like background color and ability to reorder and not cut images. 3180
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 11/03/2026I started playing with them for con reg reasons, but they're kinda just neat, and now I've written some fun libraries for Zebra ones. Probably not many folks who want to use SNAPI features over WebHID, but it's possible now x3 Also have a couple of combo RFID units, and UHF RFID is also fun. 041
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 18/01/2026I tried a Waymo, it cut off a Tesla to make a left turn and did this, weird experience! 2151
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 08/12/2025early twitter was wild, I have no idea what I was posting about hundreds of times a day (and it's probably better for me to not look). I remember folks having alt accounts when they posted too many times a day and got hit with rate limits... and now I don't even post here every week 3230
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 16/10/2025getting a fire pit was such a good idea it’s so cozy to sit out here with friends :3 1312
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 01/10/2025Affinity sent out this super vague email, and now you can't buy any of their products. That's a little concerning about what's going to happen... 560
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 24/09/2025Finally figured out the scaling (the numbers were really weird and the official app scales multiple times in different places, why!), so this project is basically ready for cut jobs. There can still be some weirdness with the cut line generator I need to sort out, but the previews are correct. 171
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 21/09/2025saw this in the video from an outdoor camera at my place, I love how glowy the eyes on this fox are 1140
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 21/09/2025I'm not 100% sure this is the cause yet but after poking at my GPU's power cable and having the issue go away I noticed just how toasted the wires look inside the sleeving and uhh that's probably not good 390
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 16/09/2025I was expecting generating cut lines to be way harder tbh, but it appears to be doable with some basic operations, and there's good libraries for doing them. Still obviously some behaviors to work out, but I think I can make it work. 050
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 15/09/2025Yup, actually enough information to do things :D Got printing working with completely my own code, next step is doing something about sticker cutting… 0171
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 22/08/2025today's mood is collars... and all of the different and excellent ways artists have stylized mine :3 2253
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 16/08/2025fox dinner 🦊🍗 kinda underwhelming tbh, was very similar to normal baja blast 2240
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 14/08/2025how ridiculous would it be to go to taco bell just to try purple baja 8190
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 08/08/2025So fast.com is reporting speeds greater than the physical link between my router and ONT (2.5Gbps), wonder what's wrong with their calculations 2110
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 14/07/2025looking back through commissions and this one from @snapbackotter.bsky.social has still gotta be one of my favorites, the colors and stylization and everything is so so good 5466
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 14/07/2025even managed to get a photo of both of these dragonfly species sitting on the same stick ... but only momentarily 0102
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 14/07/2025okay now that I've woken up from an accidental nap on a friend, I pulled some photos off my camera, so many bugs are so incredibly beautiful 1112
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 12/07/2025sometimes foxes can be shiny, as a treat 🎨 @marrowsoup.bsky.social 430750
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 09/07/2025I love the subsurface scattering on the edge of fursuit fur so much, need more local folks willing to let me practice photography lighting stuff on them... 2500
Syfaro @syfaro.net · 09/07/2025still thinking about the last post I made over on the other place, which was somehow two years ago now... cons always remind me how much more rewarding being physically present is, and how frustrating it is that it's only a couple of weekends a year that I get that kind of opportunity. 3622
