Ahh, so Mr LOTS and Ms Deb Ball are actually a couple?! Of course, good luck to them both. Part of me still genuinely wonders though, whether Jess is/was a certain online forum's ABC News source! 🤨 Also, did she attend the Logies as support for nominee Mike? 🤔 www.facebook.com/tanya.pliber...

Ahh, the things you find on Getty Images... Michael Theo (pre-beard) and Jessica Tattersall arriving at Theatre Royal Sydney for "The Lovers" on November 5 last year. Woman's Day and/or New Idea could've done a story on this, haha! 😜

#OnThisDay in 1926: Sydney commercial radio station 2GB (whose callsign honours the 16th century Italian philosopher Giordano Bruno) commences broadcasting. In tribute, here's a compilation of logos which should cover most of the last 60 years (or thereabouts) at least:

...and with that, the #Logies are over for another year. Hopefully everyone was entertained and/or informed by my posts. Why do I continue to do it every year? Mainly, so other people don't have to watch the telecast! 😜

The Gold Logie Award for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television has been won by...Sam Pang. Phew, I was worried for a few hours that it may have been announced around 8.20pm! #Logies

It seems like *that* Cobs Popcorn ad is airing again. Still reckon it's begging to be joked about on Jonesy & Amanda, with the red-haired boy looking rather like what could be a younger version of their bored millennial panel operator and Robert Irwin impersonator Gen Y Ry! 😜

Two #Logie Awards on display at The National Film & Sound Archive in Canberra. Photographed during my visit there on November 26 last year. I've been reliably informed that the first Gold one was given to Graham Kennedy for his 1998 induction into the Hall of Fame, but the second? 🤔

No major surprise given that SCA and Seven are pretty much under common ownership now, but nonetheless interesting to note that 2DayFM & Triple M have replaced KIIS as radio partner/s for this year's #Logies!

Tonight, the 66th TV Week Logie Awards will be shown on Seven and 7Plus. As per the tradition inspired by @mattfulton.bsky.social posts on that other site years ago, another mock #InMemoriam post dedicated to programs, channels and media careers we've lost over the past year! 😜

Mock "In Memoriam" graphic including the following programs/channels we lost during the past year.

*FBoy Island Australia (Foxtel/Binge)
*Sky News Australia (rebranded to News24 due to the expiration/non-renewal of a licencing contract)
*Question Everything (ABC-TV & iView)
*Ultimate Escape (7Plus)
*Stranded on Honeymoon Island (Seven)
*Expo Channel (replaced with two-hour timeshift version of parent channel TVSN)
*Amber Sherlock's media career.
*10 News Afternoon (3.30pm bulletin, likely victim of Neighbours' second and most likely final axing by Ten).

Welcome to 2026: A quarter of a century since the launch of Digital Terrestrial Television in Australia, although I'd say it didn't *really* start to become mainstream tech until sometime around 2007-08ish. The big question now: Will this be the year we go all (or mostly) MPEG4? 🤔

100

SydneyCityTV @sydneycitytv.bsky.social · 31/12/2025

2025 was a mix of high points, low points and in-between points. Obviously, the main highlight has to be my inaugural trip to Canberra (and the ACT). How it took so long is a mystery but hopefully it won't be another 30 years and seven months before the second/return stay there!

100

SydneyCityTV @sydneycitytv.bsky.social · 31/12/2025

Aside from that...well, I got to properly see Illawarra TV for the first time in almost a decade. But of course, that's not terribly exciting because a decent enough chunk of Sydney is in reach of Knights Hill reception even if my primary viewing location isn't!

Not the best pics, I know. But it's not like I have access to the video files to make proper screencaps or anything! A brief look at what ABC News' simulated "Breaking News" Updates presented by Nate Byrne for "Earthquake House" at Questacon look like:

Questionable quality "camera-to-screen" photographs of simulated ABC News (Australia) "Breaking News" Updates, with current News Breakfast Weather Presenter Nate Byrne.

Displayed during the "Earthquake House" exhibit at Questacon, The National Science and Technology Centre in Parkes, Australian Capital Territory.
