AI isn't a threat to humanity or society, but the Silicon Valley mafia is. All these tech bros with unprecedented amounts of money and no social conscience are funding our downfall.

It's all about money. To make lots of money you often have to be a bad person (a sociopath?). Once these bad people have the money they use it to persuade the more gullible of us to do what they want. Stop it by acknowledging these rich people are not good for society. Also think for ourselves.

At least he's admitting it's happening and not arguing that humans are the cause. But he's incredibly stupid to ignore the fact that global warming will keep getting worse until we stop it! So at what point will we stop it- When only the mega rich are still alive in their air conditioned bunkers?

We are all going to suffer and a lot of us will die if we don't stop this exploitation. Sadly the only ones guaranteed to survive are the mega rich that are driving these changes with their selfish pursuit of money. The general population needs to wake up and realise this.

It's been obvious for a very long time that these polluters should pay for their externalities, it is a standard economic concept. But Big Oil has used their profits to maintain the reliance on oil - along with greedy, spineless politicians. If we don't fight this we will all pay for it.

When are the general public going to realise that the mega rich and their orgs don't give a toss about our well being? They don't care if we are dying so long as they make more money. Consider that when you read an article in a rich-owned newspaper or vote for a rich politician

I think most ordinary ppl care, but they are persuaded by the media (old and new) that it's not sth to worry about - just keep on spending money!

It seems that every government on the world values "economic growth" over everything else, including the well being of its citizens. The root cause? The influence the stupidly rich have on the government and the public alike. The public should know better but instead believe the rubbish they read

When it comes to AI, the cost of an Nvidia over it's lifespan is insane. They are projected to cost 10k a year - each GPU! Imagine having your own computer with one GPU, which costs as much as an expensive car to run?! This isn't sustainable in any sense.

Here's why I hate Rich people. 1 They get the money by doing Sh1t things and generally been sh1tty people. 2 They hoard the money. That's bad for the economy. 3 They use that vast wealth to do bad things like influence politics or just make more dirty money.

This guy has completely lost touch with reality, if he ever was in touch with it. It's as if he has spent his whole life living in a privileged bubble

There is a correlation between right wing parties' idealogies and that of anti-intellectual movements like Khmer Rouge's agrarian ideology and the Cultural Revolution. If/When they get in to power it will have the same effect - a big step backwards and damage that will be very hard to repair.

A vote for any of these right-wing politicians is a vote for more corruption and not much else. In the UK, Farage has been gifted 5 million by some Crypto Billionaire (not the first gift from them) - and surprisingly deregulation of crypto is one of his party's policies.

..but the media also force the people in power to change policies. Media will say it's representing public opinion but it's not - it's whatever the Media decide they don't like. Then there is lobbying of the government. Rich people and their corporations buy influence and again change policies.

How do they do that? The Rich own almost all of the Media in the West. They feed us misleading headlines and skew our feeds...

Democracy is been eroded by the Super Rich and if we don't stop it then we are heading for trouble. Unless we break this hold the Rich have on democracy, we are going to have a bad outcome for everybody. 1/2

I work in AI. Most of what the general public reads or hears about on the news is complete lies and exaggerated half truths.

I think not enough people understand that the pushback against renewables and EV's is money. Without getting too in the weeds: renewables cannot ever be as profitable as oil and gas. EV's don't make as much money as gas guzzlers. That's it. That's all you really need to know.

Why TF would a taxi driver tell you how good a self-driving car is? It's like devs lauding AI agents: Do they want to be made redundant?

Voting based on one or two parameters is undemocratic. It's better for democracy if people who vote like that do not vote at all. Lower immigration? Lower food prices? Candidate personality? "I always vote this way"? Voting based on any of these alone will not improve your life or our future!

Lower Taxes -> Lower standard of living for most This is an effect of modern economies. Voters need to consider this if democracy is going to deliver what it promises.
