Dunno if it changes your thoughts. Green mages in final fantasy tactics 2 were more focused on various buffs and debuffs. Poison was a part of it mind you, but also sleeping, blindness/deafness. On the support side it was boosting physical and magical defenses~

That makes total sense. News like that comes out in a constant deluge. It's good to stay informed, but you can't be drowning in it otherwise you'll go depressed/insane both. I try to keep my ear to the ground of it too, but also good to know when you're getting overwhelmed.
