I can’t actually fault this hospital in India for not having mango since it’s not mango season (there is a giant mango-less mango tree to prove it) and they have given me many other tasty fruits, but summer in the US was also lacking good mango, even when I visited LA which can usually be trusted.

Alas, the Kerala variant is pretty different and either way dried mango doesn’t sate the mango cravings. Also I’m in a hospital so my diet is fairly restricted.

The lemons could have contributed for sure! But putting saffron in hot water frequently results in bitterness; traditionally you steep it in ice. (As in, grind a bit to release the flavors and then put it on ice and leave until it melts)

Yeahhh one of the most frustrating things is when people with more privilege and ability hide behind "but I CAN'T" while people with less privilege and ability are doing 3x as much. I realize we live in a culture that actively encourages people with more privilege to feel more helpless, but.
