I spent hours and hours on a CG sequence putting cinematic touches on it. This mini cutscene will only last about 12-15 seconds and will have taken a collective (across the entire team) 60 hours for that little amount of screen time. Backgrounds can be really powerful mood setters but also inform a lot about the characters who inhabit that space. The cardinal rule we follow when creating backgrounds is to include at least 3 elements which support that character's backstory and/or traits. Background art @reothesnep.bsky.social!

I received an email last night from someone on the Yarn Spinner's dev team. If you're not familiar with Yarn Spinner, it's been used as a dialogue/narration engine in some major games - Night in the Woods, Dredge, Little Kitty Big City, etc. They asked for some screenshots, because...
