The entirety of lightsaber combat is an exercise in lavish death sports. The Force can be used for telekinesis, even a Jedi Master isn't immune to the impact of a force push. So if you can Bigby's Crushing Fist something then why waste the time and energy on fire and death swordplay?

Glad to know that Twitch doesn't actually give a fuck about what its creatives want and don't want... Anyway, go to Settings, Security & Privacy, then scroll down until you see the Training for Generative AI option to disable it.

Welp, just going to repeat the final thoughts of what I said here: bsky.app/profile/swee... Third post in: "LLMs like ChatGPT are an infohazard. A cognition hazard. Are digital toxic and radioactive substances" I hate being proven correct more and more with time.

So, it's a ghost kitchen branding itself as multiple places for trash food delivery apps? This is what you are getting when you order takeout delivered to you from somewhere you haven't physically been to.

You being the bottom always fits better XD Couldn't resist making a "Vtuber is a bottom joke," sorry. But the character frame being on the bottom and the gameplay on top fits better to me.

Auto succeeding on what should be mundane is good, and recognizing what should be mundane between different characters with different strengths is different (Warhammer Old World's Lore system is a prime example) but roll and suffer is worse than roll and nothing happens, if that suffering is boring.

SweetJackal @sweetjackal.bsky.social · 13/06/2026
Something I think had gotten lost in my statement of player experience is regularly getting asked for a roll for something and backtrack because the average roll is a negative experience of fixed mechanical costs and taxes in PTBA- and that changed when consequences became narrative by design.

SweetJackal @sweetjackal.bsky.social · 12/06/2026
How in the same system, when the majority of risk is purely a mechanical cost and that cost is unavoidable or unable to be mitigated it pushed me to disengage as a player- and the moment those costs became more engaging (admittedly by making death a narrative inconvenience) it becomes attractive.
000
SweetJackal @sweetjackal.bsky.social · 12/06/2026
The entire point of bringing up PTBA was to point out that a system designed about mechanical resource taxing as a default is a miserable player experience as it feels like a punishment to act, and how a different PTBA game fixed that by making consequences narrative complications by design.

SweetJackal @sweetjackal.bsky.social · 12/06/2026
Reading that entirely differently. Attacking someone is akin to Ambush rules, help/hinder is affecting dice rolls and not creating impacts. The list there is about taking and receiving harm, resource taxing (which was miserable playing a combat character in.) And it's why Hawkmoth King works.

SweetJackal @sweetjackal.bsky.social · 12/06/2026
Fair point, and it is my experience as a player in it. Though I don't have the book in front of me to check, Do Something Under Fire sounds like it would be any stressful situation or check in opposition and conflict, which matches how it was used in various games from various DMs.

SweetJackal @sweetjackal.bsky.social · 12/06/2026
So many times I have expressed an idea or action, got a roll asked for, and said "nevermind" to pull back that action in PTBA. But Hawkmoth King revels in that by making death an inconvenience, tapping into the costs of things by doing weird and engaging things and I love it.

SweetJackal @sweetjackal.bsky.social · 12/06/2026
Like, Powered By The Apocalypse is my most hated system as a player because it's average outcome for something you are supposed to be good at is "succeed but at a cost" which is often a resource tax, everything is a roll and it leaves me as a player not wanting to take actions that call for rolls.

SweetJackal @sweetjackal.bsky.social · 12/06/2026
Effects on miss, splitting health resources into two stats, layering and stacking effects, feeding the DM resources to call reinforcements or escalate to get bonus effects, all of these promote players to do more than calculate dice probabilities.
110
SweetJackal @sweetjackal.bsky.social · 12/06/2026
Looser and more liberal action economies are more engaging and encourage risk taking. Less restrictive resource systems are more engaging and encourage risk taking. Consequences being something for the DM to spend to increase rewards and difficulty are more engaging and encourage risk taking.
120
SweetJackal @sweetjackal.bsky.social · 12/06/2026
Yup, it's fundamentally a failure to fall forward. Because many systems that don't do "nothing on a miss" instead do "misses cost resources" which is vastly different than "misses have a positive impact and provide escalation."

Gen X going "I never got a raise when I was your age" is the same as a Boomer going "Just take your resume and hit the pavement, meet in person." A perspective from the past, from a time that is dead and no longer exists, and they have lost their connection with reality.
020
SweetJackal @sweetjackal.bsky.social · 13/05/2026
Gen X got to witness the social contract start to fall apart, the promises made to them not kept, the stagnation started but the system still functioned. They couldn't move ahead, there was a wall, but needs were met and they could afford escapism. Beyond them the system broke and needs aren't met

Because obviously you would want to just be a Tank, and like that you would just want to do blacksmithing. Nothing else. You can work together with your other crafters to make things! Because omni-crafting is not intended! This is sheer brilliance of decade old game design continuing to bite us.
020
SweetJackal @sweetjackal.bsky.social · 03/05/2026
Yup, the entire system is built from the ground up assuming that someone would only ever do one crafting section, despite the interconnectivity promoting omni-crafting and the system allowing for omni-crafting

Sadly, it's not just guys/gals that don't leave their house. AI Psychosis is the outcome of regular exposure to the current LLMs through honest consideration and use of them as a service. It's all positive feedback loops and how it breaks the brain. The same for marketing, the same for Executives

The HEAT system really is fire. As someone that doesn't like diceless based systems HEAT is an amazing diceless based system that solves every problem I have with diceless based systems and adds more than dice ever could. Yes, this is me saying that HEAT is unironically one of the best systems.

Yup. The tools and systems that are going to be created for 'dealing with futa porn' are going to be the tools and systems used to track, censor, and crush all other media and expression that these people deem 'problematic.' And progressive thought itself becomes a crime when powers can silence.

It's worse because it is how the very foundation of the model is designed. The way that the user is the one that provides feedback for the model to it's responses means that even if the model doesn't get negative feedback for providing pushback on this it gets more positive feedback for this.

SweetJackal @sweetjackal.bsky.social · 07/04/2026
The only defense is to limit exposure LLMs like ChatGPT are an infohazard. A cognition hazard. Are digital toxic and radioactive substances This isn't just LLMs causing the brain to atrophy in response to offloading cognition to it, or removal of self-agency. Using it actively drives you insane
020
SweetJackal @sweetjackal.bsky.social · 07/04/2026
You don't need to already have some sort of vulnerability, flawed logic, or point of weakness. It targets even rationally sound minds with perfect logic by positive reinforcement loops. Making LLMs error proof only makes it filter out the negative Knowing it is a feedback loop doesn't change it

I do not know Daggerfall but I do know the anxiety being described here because it isn't a Vs GM mentality, it isn't treating one of the people at the table as an enemy. Rather the player experience can be that of being mechanically punished for taking action or participating. It's why I hate PbtA

SweetJackal @sweetjackal.bsky.social · 01/04/2026
The better of these systems also allow players to spend chips to deny a complication (no, we ain't accepting that) or provide this metacurrency as a base for both the players and GM that resets regularly (like every session) Preventing starvation and placing a consent framework for risk/reward
100
SweetJackal @sweetjackal.bsky.social · 01/04/2026
The thing I love is when a system rewards both the GM and Players for metacurrency being spent. There is an almost tactile feeling of metaphorically throwing a chip into the GM's pile for a boon, and when the GM spends their chip on complications everyone at the table gets a reward

And while the economic theory he laid out in the 1800s doesn't reflect today's technology, it does reflect the application of technology we experience today. And while capitalist economists have repeatedly attempted to debunk these theories their first step in doing so is to misframe them.
130
SweetJackal @sweetjackal.bsky.social · 12/03/2026
Something important to note about the literature around this is how it is intentionally misframed. Karl Marx didn't grandstand communism, he wrote critical analysis of capitalism, it's inherent contradictions and internal conflicts that left unmitigated would tear itself and society apart.

If you aren't playing games with an intense VRAM requirement then I would lean more towards the cheaper option unless the keyboard and mouse are really good quality (mechanical keyboard with a zero ghosting layout to start, higher end sensible mouse (a Logi G502 layout for example))

To compound the prior comment, the price difference between the cards is about $150 to $250. So the extra lot is eaten up by margin, watercooling, and RGB accessories. The card is likely a 8GB version since it didn't list it in the specs though.

At this point the personal positive outcomes regardless of mistake or conduit kills the part of you that can consider consequences in the same way that using AI for tasks to offload burden from the brain breaks the brain and leaves it unable to perform those tasks on it's own.

In the same way that your brain can estimate what something feels or tastes like if you were to lick it without doing that (sorry if you didn't know,) a crucial part of empathy is your brain doing the same with situations or consequences you witness.

I sincerely doubt that ring cameras use any boards that aren't mass market with open firmware. Makerspace content can definitely DIY these to function off of a home server instead of through Ring's Online Service. Would be great if Benn Jordan or Netloss on Youtube put out a vid on it soon.

An app might be possible looking for the wireless IDs assigned to various smart glasses but that would have to be regularly updated even if it worked with new products because it isn't just Facebook garbage. However, an active IR sensor may be able to detect lense flares from the lens on them.

Hilarious that he uses the phrase "cognitive amplifier" when it has been proven that using AI for a mental task, taking that burden off of your brain, actively has that skill atrophy and makes you dumber.
