Part of the problem with electricity consumption is that big consumers pay less the more they use. Reverse that and the problem goes away.

Even if money were saved, the grifters will milk the expenses system dry. Expect special clothing allowances, necessary trips and entertaining dignitaries to figure large in claims.

If we put that money into providing battery storage for every home in the country, we wouldn't need another power station. And it would be done in 3 years.

Germany again showing the way. Our Civil Defence preparations are woeful to non-existent. Yet, planned properly, they could be another growth driver. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/j...

Deepseek agrees... Bottom Line: We’re not *inevitably* doomed, but we’re in a race between self-destruction and self-preservation. The difference hinges on collective action, wisdom, and prioritizing long-term survival over short-term gains.

The days of indiscriminate high yield nuclear weapons are over. These are precision low yield, highly destructive weapons that could, for example, destroy the Kerch bridge in one attack. Blanket descriptions as " nukes " dilute the argument against MAD weapons.

There was always a tacit, unspoken agreement that public sector workers, including civil servants and council officers, gave up the immediate rewards of private practice in return for a guarantee of employment and pension. It's governments that have broken that arrangement, not workers. #unison

Unfortunately no. We have been at war with Russia since 2015. It's a cyber war and we are losing heavily. This will escalate into physical confrontation very soon with attacks on the baltic states in the name of liberation, probably following a cyber blackout, and we are simply not prepared.

The key here is quality. History shows over and again that quality is sacrificed for economy, but only for a short while. Then people get fed up with crap and seek quality again. The trick is to ride it out and be ready for the uptick.

Swifts have lost more than half their population in 20 years. A simple £35 brick in new builds could help save them. Labour used to support this – now they’re planning to backtrack. Sign the petition now to show them the public still backs this nature-friendly fix:
