Joe Sweeney @sweeney.digital · 04/05/2026Or, if you have an old-school shared hosting with an FTP server, you could just build your site after creating an article and re-uploading the site each time! 000
Joe Sweeney @sweeney.digital · 04/05/2026With the templating, you won't need to worry about changing things manually on every page, that should be handled automatically if set up properly, just like a regular CMS. 100
Joe Sweeney @sweeney.digital · 04/05/2026I haven't actually used 11ty before but I've done a few static sites with other tools (they're not even worth mentioning 😅). Using Markdown is not a bad way to go, but yeah you'll need to commit each new article to Git and have a pipeline that re-builds your site with the new articles. 100
Joe Sweeney @sweeney.digital · 04/05/2026You can save a lot of money too! Being a static site generator, you can host it anywhere, even for free on Cloudflare Pages for example. Coming up with a good pipeline for creating a publishing blog posts will come with a bit more legwork tho 210
Joe Sweeney @sweeney.digital · 07/04/2026My eternal side project, a web-based, offline-first podcast client. Built with @nuxt.com, using @tinybase.bsky.social and Yjs for cross-device syncpodrain.app 070
Joe Sweeney @sweeney.digital · 07/02/2026I have tried many 😅 but the one I've settled on is @tinybase.bsky.social, lots of backend storage options and sync protocols. I have found pairing it with Yjs and Hocus Pocus (a Yjs server) gives me the best results with the most flexibility. Example, web-based podcast player: podrain.apppodrain.app 120

Joe Sweeney @sweeney.digital · 26/08/2025As a Vue-head myself, I agree 😞 I have a bunch of side projects that I was able to convert pretty easily, but I also didn't use very many Vue-specific libraries that depended on the deep internals of the framework, luckily. It definitely fragmented the ecosystem. 110
Joe Sweeney @sweeney.digital · 23/08/2025Features: - Dark mode - Theming options - Can work fully offline (even in airplane mode!) - Back up data to the cloud - Export/import backup file on local device - Full listening history - Add RSS feeds directly or search iTunes for podcasts - Simple, no fluff 020
Joe Sweeney @sweeney.digital · 23/08/2025This has been quite a journey, but I'm ready to share a side project that has been cooking for years... a purely web-based podcast client! Introducing Podrain. Built with @nuxt.com, @tinybase.bsky.social, @tur.so, @cloudflare.social and many other wonderful tools. Start using it at podrain.app 152

Joe Sweeney @sweeney.digital · 03/02/2025I've run into this limitation with a different DB client. I haven't pursued it, but it's good to know I'm not the only one with this issue :D Chat-gippity says it's likely an issue with Linux filesystem permissions on the server preventing writes from a remote client 020
Joe Sweeney @sweeney.digital · 14/11/2024Deno and Hono were perfect for this because I just installed Deno on the server Factorio is running on, and created a single app.ts file with everything needed for running server commands, copying files, and serving the web app itself. Hard to imagine doing this so quickly with any other stack. 010
Joe Sweeney @sweeney.digital · 14/11/2024I host a Factorio server for my friends, but they keep destroying stuff when I'm not playing with them and keep asking me to reset the server 🙄 Well, no more! I created a quick web app with @deno.land and #honojs to restore an autosave of their choosing. And they can download the save files too! 110

Joe Sweeney @sweeney.digital · 05/11/2024Might be a fun opportunity to hack on the client and add that feature in! 000
