I understand that Aleksandar Ličanin, a former volunteer in a Bosnian Serb unit who claims to have witnessed these events, has agreed to testify before the Milan prosecutor's office. If the prosecutors ultimately call him, do you believe his testimony is reliable?

But he was old school, well-trained, and refused to do so. The last time I saw him, in June 1996, he told me that he had been ordered killed; I didn't believe him at the time, but he was murdered in September of that year.

When did you begin investigating the Sarajevo case? I first heard about it in 1995, and the following year I met a Bosnian agent, Nedžad Ugljen, who had opened an investigation and was then pressured to close it, even from the Bosnian presidency itself.

It's a paradox because, religiously, I am an Orthodox Serb, and part of my mother's family was murdered in the Jasenovac concentration camp in Croatian territory, which was one of the Ustaše camps, while my father's father was decorated for his anti-fascist struggle.

I've investigated about ten major cases and even testified in court cases in Serbia and Croatia, among others, regarding crimes committed by Croatian forces in the city of Sisak against Serbian civilians.

Murieron... - Sí. Eranmiembros de la unidad en la que estaba también Aleksandar Vučić. Él dice que miento, pero hay varios vídeos y entrevistas de los noventa, en los que él afirma haber sido un voluntario militar en el cementerio judío de Sarajevo.

Estos últimos dos vivían en Serbia, mientras que lo curioso de Aleksić es que, pese a que todos en Sarajevo sabían que él era uno de los principales responsables de atemorizara la población, siguió viviendo en Bosnia y nunca nadie lo arrestó.

Pero Aleksić murió hace poco [en diciembre pasado], algo muy conveniente, al igual que otros dos miembros de la misma unidad, que se encargaban de asuntos logísticos y que también murieron desde que en septiembre se supodela apertura de la investigación italiana.

Es una paradoja porque, por religión, soy serbio ortodoxo y par te de la familia de mi madre fue asesinada en el campo de concen tración de Jasenovac en territorio croata, que era uno de los campos de los ustaša, mientras que el padre de mi padre fue condecorado por la lucha antifascista.
