I'm doing it again! In 2024 I hunted down 40 different eggs in 40 different video games. This coming Sunday, we're going for *50* while not using *ANY* of the games we used last time. It's going to be a really fun easter egg hunt. Would love to see you there! www.twitch.tv/swarleypilgrim

The next time someone suggests I go to therapy, they better also be making the offer to pay for it. I make so little money, I can't afford to learn how to drive. I'm nowhere near able to afford therapy.

I miss when creators would talk about the projects they were working on, and the things they were excited to make in the future Now they just talk about how much money they've made. Money money money.

The third game I completed this year was FireRed! I won't think of it as actually complete until I finish the Living Dex, but I rolled credits, and that's enough! Love having access to this on a modern console. Classic Pokemon in bed at the end of the day is wonderful. Hope they port more!

I grew up loving two things: Harry Potter, and Pokemon. I was an only child, with few friends my own age, and spent a lot of time alone in my room. I've lost the one thing that made me feel whole, and welcome as a kid, which has made Pokemon so much more important to me than anyone can imagine.

Happy 30th anniversary to Pokémon this week!! ICYMI I uploaded a cover (and animated recreation) of the opening and title screen of Pokémon Red and Blue last week for those who are interested c: youtu.be/rAyPqrQsnow Art by @binoftrash.bsky.social as usual ^^

Artwork celebrating Pokémon's 30th anniversary. Qu's holding a squirtle, while Myu's carrying a raichu. They're standing in front of a fire motif inspired by fire energy from the Pokemon Trading Card Game.

The second game I completed this year was Pokemon ZA! A fun adventure with combat that got more, and more frustrating, and less enjoyable as the game went on. I'd much rather have the Pokemon do the fighting, and not have to worry about avoiding attacks as the trainer, but still enjoyed the game!

If I lose a fight, I want it to be because I didn't plan ahead enough, or because my pokemon's level was too low. Not because my character accidentally walked into one of the 5 laser beams on screen.

SwarleyPilgrim™ @swarleypilgrim.bsky.social · 22/02/2026

The first game I played from start to finish in 2026, was the first Zelda! It was part of my second attempt to complete every Zelda game in release order, and it was an incredible time. 10 times better with the ability to rewind. It became a fun adventure, instead of an annoying slog!

However, in Fire Red and Leaf Green- all 151 original Pokemon designs were redone and streamlined going forward. All of Poliwhirl's appearances going forward would have the mitten hands to distinguish itself from its evolution

in gens 1, 2, and Ruby and Sapphire, Poliwhirl was depicted with fingers- with the exception of Yellow- where it has mitten hands. In the anime, Poliwhirl was exclusively shown with mitten hands. This inconsistency popped up a lot in early Pokemon content.

If you're willing to pay $20 for a new indie co-op slop game once a month, but can't understand why a classic re-release is $30, I just don't know what to tell you 🤷🏻‍♂️ I'd play Pokemon FireRed 10 times over, before I'd ever jump in to play Peak. Or REPO. Or Schedule 1. Or Powerwash Sim.

010

SwarleyPilgrim™ @swarleypilgrim.bsky.social · 20/02/2026

People will buy co-op slop games for $20 a piece, play them once, and then never think of them again. Yet those same people will rant, and roar about an all time classic game being re-released for $30. The world baffles me. It truly does.
