And NATO is either brain dead or dead as long as the US is member.

I assume that they didn't ask the EU which means that is dead on arrival. Not that the EU would go along with this even if they asked.

This would be the end of US arms export. No country would ever buy US arms again if the US withholds delivery of arms that have already been paid for. It's an own goal if the US goes ahead with this.

If the US blocks arms export that has already been paid for by Europe then it will be the end of US arms export. No country in the world will ever buy arms from the US again if it can't trust the US to deliver arms that they have already paid for.

The US needs a new leader period. And Trump/MAGA voters need their voting privileges revoked for life.

He should ignore what the US/Trump wants and continue with going after refineries. Both Trump and Putin are desperate which means pressure needs to be kept up and increased.

AI is good for simple quality of life things. I like the AI mode myself when using Google to search for things. Most of the things that I search for basically comes down to peoples opinions so the information never will be 100% accurate anyway. The AI mode just saves me time with it's summary.

Europeans have always been good at waging war. The only thing that has changed is that we lost our appetite for military adventurism after WW2.

As far as I know all but one Russian pipeline runs westwards so it would be difficult getting the diesel to the Pacific coast. Having said that I wonder if Russia even has the capacity to export diesel after Ukraine's attacks. I seriously doubt that Ukraine will stop hitting their refineries either.

I wonder how this will affect European countries intercepting Russia's shadowfleet. Hopefully they will ignore Trump and keep doing it.

Hollow words as long as you and other European leaders keep giving in to a war criminal like Trump.

I find it funny that they always make an own goal by comparing themselves to and/or calling themselves Sparta/Spartans when 150 pairs of gay lovers played a desicive role in ending Spartan hegomony.

Always was a matter of time before he would come back to Greenland. Unless the US physically owns Greenland he will keep coming back to it. The only silver lining is that with the new agreement NATO is allowed to build bases there so I genuinely hope the rest of NATO does and stations troops there.

Tell that to the Ukrainians who would be exterminated by Russia if Russia wins. Ow wait you can't because they would be all dead.

You can't have peace if one side doesn't want peace. Putin only cares about winning the war. As long as he wins he doesn't care about the cost in men, material & time. This means that Russia needs to be decisively defeated on the battlefield so that it is incapable of continuing the war.

We need an EU Army that will serve as the backbone of a new NATO style alliance. Also membership to this new NATO style alliance shouldn't be locked to one specific region like the North Atlantic. Instead members should be democratic and share the same values.

He is wrong about not needing military bases. A number of European countries have overseas territories which in combination with non-European allies & trade routes that need protecting means that Europe will need military bases in the rest of the world even if it is for purely defensive purposes.

Time for the rest of NATO to boycott the meeting and hold their own on the alliance's future without the US.

He is wrong. Putin simply doesn't care what the price in men and material will be as long as he wins and winning the war is all that he cares about. This makes any diplomatic attempt to end the war a waste of time. This war will only end when Putin has been decisively beaten on the battlefield.

The real problem is the unwillingness of European leaders & politicians to give up sovereignty for the sake of defense. Until that happens every country more or less does it's own thing & hopes that cooperation is good enough. Europe unfortunately has the wrong people in charge at the wrong time.

svw86.bsky.social @svw86.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
He is ignoring the elephant in the room that is the US who might jump at the opportunity to snatch both Canada and Greenland while Europe/NATO is occupied in a war against Russia and China.

svw86.bsky.social @svw86.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
Europe's constant de-escalation made Putin escalate more & more because he saw it as a sign of weakness. When Europe will finally be forced to escalate, Putin will not have an off-ramp because he escalated too much. So now we're at the point where any major escalation by Putin will trigger a war.

Wouldn't it be better for European leaders to attend anyway just to make sure that Trump treats Zelensky well and doesn't backstab Ukraine?

Honestly I think it is more the case of 25 EU members making the most out of it to renew the sanctions before they run out. Shame on the other two countries though.

Because a Kursk offensive scenario would mean that Russia will try to make NATO bleed for every inch of land that it liberates. NATO would be under constant drone attack similar to the frontlines in Ukraine. You're going to have a lot of casualties trying to liberate land under those conditions.
120
svw86.bsky.social @svw86.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
Which unfortunately also helps Russia indirectly because the public isn't being mentally prepared to tolerate mass casualties. Mass casualties would put public pressure on NATO/Europe to give in to Russian demands.
130
svw86.bsky.social @svw86.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
Not retaliating and de-escalating are seen as signs of weakness by Russia. This will only encourage Russia to escalate more and more.

It will all come down to Trump's interpretation of the agreement being the same as Denmarks/Greenlands interpretation and wether or not he does a repeat of his failed trade talks with Canada where he unilaterally changes the agreement last minute.
110
svw86.bsky.social @svw86.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
Denmark/Greenland has a different interpretation than Trump. It's possible that Trump is doing a repeat of his failed trade talks with Canada where he unilaterally makes changes last minute.

svw86.bsky.social @svw86.bsky.social · 18/09/2026
I wonder if this will be a repeat of his failed trade deal with Canada where he changes his demands last minute given that both Denmark/Greenland and Trump seem to have different interpretations of the agreement.

Renewable energy in combination with trading Canada and Greenland for the resources that Europe needs is the way to go. If the Arctic melts then it will open up faster trade routes with Asia for everything else that Europe can't get from Canada and Greenland.

svw86.bsky.social @svw86.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
And the US could invade Canada and/or Greenland while NATO/Europe is busy with Russia and/or China. So I guess that they should have been preparing for three large-scale wars at the same time.

svw86.bsky.social @svw86.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
Canada for lack of words has chosen to be an enabler. It's willingness to trade resources with the EU would enable the EU to become a superpower if it wanted to. In return this makes Canada's independence vital to the national security of the EU & would force the EU to protect Canada from the US.

Australia did the same & studies found that it didn't work at all. Kids found ways around to access the sites anyway & their parents don't care that their kids are accessing them. So all this will do is piss off adults who now need to verify their ID online while the sites will get shunned by them.

Europe's future lies in the North. Renewable energy combined with trading with Canada & Greenland for resources should satisfy most resource needs. Also if the Arctic opens up we can get everything else from Asia through faster trade routes. Control of the North Atlantic & Arctic will become vital.

svw86.bsky.social @svw86.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
Except that the US demands the same & more from it's allies. From demanding that companies from allied countries that provide services & goods to the US embassies adopt the MAGA anti-DEI polices to demanding that US allies fight & die in a war that the US started without consulting it's own allies.

svw86.bsky.social @svw86.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
The silver lining is that the rest of the NATO West have decide to stick together even if the US is not part of it and that other Western countries and Western allies might follow.

I suspect that the Middle East is moving towards a regional war. The Gulf states have no other choice but to try and open the Straits of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab. It's this or be economically strangled and face internal instability.

svw86.bsky.social @svw86.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
Europe will most likely go all in on renewable energy. Most other resources Europe needs it can get from Canada & Greenland. Also if the Arctic melts enough new & faster trade routes between Europe & Asia will open up. I suspect that the rest of the world will also pivote away from the Middle East.
030
svw86.bsky.social @svw86.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
This seems to be setting the stage for a regional war. I seriously doubt that the Gulf states will simply lay down and accept that the Strait of Hormuz and the Strait of Bab al-Mandab will not be reopened. This would economically ruin them and cause instability in their countries.

Gets worse once you learn that she is anti-LGBTQ while being a lesbian herself, that she is against immigration while her own wife is a foreigner, that she is against gay couples adopting children while she and her wife adopted 2 children and that she does not live in Germany herself.

I suspect that Europe will increasingly look north and to renewable energy as a result of what is going on in the Middle East. Canada and Greenland have a lot of resources that Europe needs. Also new and faster trade routes between Europe and Asia will open up if the ice in the North Pole melts.

It's because he is encouraging people to vote for the Republicans in November so that they get $5000 for free. He is essentially trying to buy votes for the Republicans by promising the money.
