Some of yesterday’s finds. I can’t wait to cut that crazy lacy one! Now trying to limit myself to those I can easily pick up with one hand. So. Hard.

They have the most beautiful rhyolite here on the Baja peninsula. So many colors and even different forms. I think some of this is known as wonderstone, but I call them Picasso Stones. #rockhound #rockhoundingadventures #geology

What's this? Facts: found in limited area in erosion side of hill in area of ancient volcanoes. Rocks break along layers. Made from ancient thermal springs maybe? More facts in comments. #geology #volcanics #rockhounding
White and cream layered rocks in situ on the side of the hill. Found in a limited area. rock in layers of cream and white with bubbles of perhaps caclite on top. These were sandwiched between layers of stone. green mineral maybe? that's a fresh break. translucent rocks that looks like bubbles, not boitroydial crystals.

Best guess is banded rhyolite with veins of agate. Iron staining on the outside prevents seeing its true colors but based on other material i think it would be grey and red. I left this one but it was fun finding it. #rockhound #rockhoundingadventures #volcanics

Don’t be glum about the long, cold winter. Look around: the trees are busy, not sleeping. When the temperature permits, cells in this bud are dividing, maturing into flowers, leaves, stems. The cambium, maker of all the trees, is preparing for its spring festivities. Be like a tree: keep growing.

Are there any Mexican archaeologists on Bsky? Specifically, looking for someone with interest in Baja California Sur, Bahia de Magdalena. We discovered what we are told is a pre-hispanic burial and want to find out if there will be any follow up. We have photos but I won't post on the web.
