Susy Flory @susyflory.bsky.social · 27/11/2024Love this, and mirrors my recent experience of SBC/SBC-adjacent to becoming Lutheran #ELCA. It feels like a safe place, much less ego and show biz feel, and an emphasis on communion and community—one that tangibly serves those around us. 020
Susy Flory @susyflory.bsky.social · 25/11/2024A single joyous act can lighten the darkness—for both giver and receiver. I love Angel Tree gifts! This little one is a STEM girl and we are excited to put together some special gifts for her. Thanks @salvationarmyuk.bsky.social for what you do here 💜 🎁 1140
Susy Flory @susyflory.bsky.social · 24/11/2024I feel like I’m rediscovering him. He’s an important voice for this moment. 010
Susy Flory @susyflory.bsky.social · 24/11/2024As a writer I find this comforting. We write to have conversations with people in other times and places. Books are carriers of legacy. Books are the way the dead talk to the living. 070
Susy Flory @susyflory.bsky.social · 24/11/2024I have not read a lot of his work, only individual essays. I want to remedy that, though. So any advice appreciated. I like this piece: If Black English Isn't a Language, Then Tell Me, What Is? archive.nytimes.com/www.nytimes....archive.nytimes.comIf Black English Isn't a Language, Then Tell Me, What Is? 110
Susy Flory @susyflory.bsky.social · 23/11/2024Thank you for this! Grief is a good container right now for these feelings. Grief and maybe regret, too, knowing it could have been a different story. 020

Susy Flory @susyflory.bsky.social · 23/11/2024Sometimes I feel bad that I’ve given up on people, too, not just places. People caught up in toxic spaces. Since I want/need to move on, I feel bad that I’m leaving them behind, that I now, in a way, have an aversion to them. It’s complicated 😅 230
Susy Flory @susyflory.bsky.social · 23/11/2024Glad you’re writing about this. What do we do with all these old places and spaces??!! 110
Susy Flory @susyflory.bsky.social · 23/11/2024I feel this way about my old church. But I also feel bad about that sometimes…. 130
Susy Flory @susyflory.bsky.social · 23/11/2024I didn’t know this about you! Me too! My dad raised me on Peterson’s Field Guide 110
Susy Flory @susyflory.bsky.social · 22/11/2024Robert picked a second batch of apples off our Granny Smith tree yesterday. She’s a fierce tree living at 4,000 feet in snow & ice, deer and squirrels nibbling at her leaves & bark. This year she gave us the most apples ever! Be like Granny and stand strong; raise your voice and tell your stories 💜🍏 390
Susy Flory @susyflory.bsky.social · 22/11/2024Nice to meet you and doing that now! My 30yo daughter is a licensed wildlife rehabber here in the woods and she will be very happy to hear there is such a thing as ecotheology 💜 110
Susy Flory @susyflory.bsky.social · 21/11/2024I didn’t have two of the three so I’ve added them. Thank you!! 💜 010
Susy Flory @susyflory.bsky.social · 21/11/2024I think I might have them on the list already but I will double check 💜 010

Susy Flory @susyflory.bsky.social · 20/11/2024What I am telling writers in my flock today: Writing is a subversive act. Writers are resistors. Use your pen, lift your voice, tell your story, don’t give up. Resist. 170
Susy Flory @susyflory.bsky.social · 20/11/2024Adding you to the list! Any special interests developing? And prayers for wisdom in this decision 💜 100

Susy Flory @susyflory.bsky.social · 20/11/2024Ha so true. Fruit of the Spirit is a weird one that confused people. 010
Susy Flory @susyflory.bsky.social · 19/11/2024The term definitely denotes that. But it feels dehumanizing to me. I wonder if it’s because I’m a writer first? Words have many layers of meaning to me and affect me deeply. I hadn’t thought of that as a reason before. 010
Susy Flory @susyflory.bsky.social · 19/11/2024A final thought on pulpit supply: Being new to this, the term has been a little jarring. Pulpit supply sounds more like an object, like tissues or a water bottle stored behind the pulpit. I’d like to propose the term be retired for something more encouraging, and more personal. #elca 240
Susy Flory @susyflory.bsky.social · 19/11/2024Ah, the list. Makes sense. But still sounds strange to my new ears. 100
Susy Flory @susyflory.bsky.social · 19/11/2024I definitely like that more. It actually sounds like a human 😅 010

Susy Flory @susyflory.bsky.social · 19/11/2024Thanks for the note! It’s a strange term but makes sense in a practical way. 040
