A small creative win today. My husband had a bleach spot on t-shirt with an island scene. I didn't have a fabric marker to match the blue shirt, so I dotted the bleach spot with gray and turned it into a bird. He kept looking at the shirt for a problem that he couldn't find. Then I confessed. :-)

Researching the market? Check the date on that advice. A post from a few years ago might say a genre is over, while editors are asking for it today (hello, dystopia!). Trends move. No genre is out of style forever. Keep writing the book you love.

Aside from filler words, looking at scene, subplot, and character could help. Do all scenes do at least two things: advance the plot, show theme, raise the stakes, and/or help character(s)? Could any character be combined and/or cut? What purpose does a subplot serve to the overall narrative? #AskDv

Ugh. I started reading an adult book and the main character was so nasty--she thought she was perfect--and fake, I couldn't read on. I even skipped on to where she was somehow transported to the past. She just got nastier. But evidently others have really liked the book. #amreading

We have been on vacation to the east coast (Boston area, Maine, New Brunswick, and PEI). Visiting the Green Gables Heritage house that LM Montgomery used as a setting for Anne of Green Gables was one highlight. Love this screen door. #AnneofGreenGables
