A week or so ago, I told a work colleague about befriending my crows and she looked at me like I was an alien. This week, told other coworkers the same thing and they were like “OMG I WANT CROW FRIENDS.” Just a reminder that lots of folks are your kind of weird. You just need to find them.

Playing Survival in The Long Dark is so comforting but it took several years of talking about it on Continued Podcast to figure out why. Because a disaster has happened but if you’re smart enough, and work hard enough, and are just a little lucky, you’ll be ok. If only, y’know?

Rewatching Studio 60 (I've been on a Sorkin jag recently) and it's not hard to see why it got cancelled. It's about a late night sketch show (SNL, basically) and nothing, absolutely *nothing* it shows as being part of that show is funny. So there's that.

Huh. So my birdbath had a thriving set of regulars — crows in the morning, bluebirds in the afternoon, squirrels throughout the day, and then a possum overnight — but today and yesterday, nobody. The peanuts I put out at 8am are all still there. It’s very odd.

No, you shouldn't bring an iced coffee to an in-office corporate interview. That said, if you have a bag/briefcase with you and have some kind of water bottle in there, I don't think anyone is going to have a problem. But also, most places will offer you a beverage of some kind.

I finally saw Obsession and while I think it was shot very nicely and Inde Navarrette's performance is outstanding, the movie was very one note. There's one idea in the film that I absolutely love and wish had been pursued more deeply, but that would've made it a much different kind of horror.

And that’s The Mermaid Mask finished. Outstanding game. Brilliant writing, exceptional voice acting, delightful art style. I do wish there were more puzzles, but that’s because the ones it has are so good. Highly, highly recommend. And it’s only $20!

Today I learned some really cool osprey facts and so know you will know them too! 1. Ospreys have denser bones than other birds of prey BECAUSE they only eat fish, which means they’re constantly diving into the water. The denser bones prevent their wings from breaking when they hit the surface.

So the problem with slasher flicks is that if you’re going to have a lot of the action happen in a house, you need a big enough house. Which indicates a certain amount of wealth. Which tends to erode sympathy for victims.

Saw Resident Evil. It only lightly follows the lore (ie, name checks Umbrella and Raccoon City) but 100% *feels* like Resident Evil. Fantastic adaptation, highly recommend.

I love that there’s a whole subgenre of horror movies about escape rooms (and indeed, they’re really just variations on the Saw theme), but ye cats, none of them are very good.

Like you can't send a box of stuff to someone out of the blue and expect it to sell copies of your game. Flash by itself doesn't work, and it's a distraction from the actual bread and butter. I hope this stops someone from spending precious funds on something that will cost them doubly in time
