Shane @surger1.bsky.social · 18/01/2025Been an out of work game developer for a bit. Working on a solo project while the industry is being difficult. Got a demo out on itch. Shane @surger1.bsky.social · 12/01/2025Working on #Twitch integration. Use the game to participate with the audience. From full "twitch plays" features to assigning viewers units and showing a scoreboard Last big feature before the steam page launch with demo! #gamedev #indiedev #twitchplays #towerdefense #TurbotzTesting20XX 021
Shane @surger1.bsky.social · 09/01/2025Why does dividing by 0 explode the runtime? I understand it's a mathematical reality but I've never wanted that functionality. I must wrap every single division I ever do in a check. Why oh why could it not be the other way? Just assume I want it to be 0 if the divisor is 0 😭 000
Shane @surger1.bsky.social · 30/12/2024Like a frog on a log, today I finished half of the bugs remaining before launching the steam page. Tomorrow I will do the same. And the day after there will only be half remaining as well. Then finally next week. I'll have it down to just half! #gamedev #indiedev 061
Shane @surger1.bsky.social · 29/12/2024Everything interactable must yell at you. Real pick me energy with the collectables Probably not done with this feature but we juice our games a drop at a time here! #gamedev #indiedev #polish #juice 083
Shane @surger1.bsky.social · 29/12/2024Adding a proper load sequence to Turbotz made the title disappear. But oddly not the subtitle. Turns out the lag of loading a big fat wad upfront skipped over ancient title animation code and it was absconding with the title once freed to run again. I love #gamedev #indiedev #debugging 081
Shane @surger1.bsky.social · 28/12/2024We know the Antroids are evil, we programmed them that way. Any ethical questions about their exploding is superfluous. They are made to explode for data collection. It is always right #gamedev #indiedev #towerdefense #pixelart #turbotz 0113
Shane @surger1.bsky.social · 11/12/2024A chance to further self promote you say? Certainly. My little Tower / Survivors game Turbotz Testing 20XX. You upgrade enemies and towers trying to reach enough research in a time(?) limit. No sneaks on the twitch stuff... actively coding that. Though I could snippet the WIP 120
Shane @surger1.bsky.social · 11/12/2024Twitch integration scope got out of hand. Why NOT just let chat play the entire game themselves? I already made AL (Alphonse the A.I who tests my game for me). The functions are there! That will mean a crowdsanity mode with simulated chat spam for sure. #gamedev #indiedev #twitch #streamers 192
