We're disappointed by the anti-bottle bill comments from Kathryn Garcia, Hochul aid & former DSNY Commissioner. What's incredibly problematic is the fact that the Hochul admin can't recognize the value of NY's most effective recycling system. The bill works, & modernization would be a win for NY!

The Bottle Bill would ensure more beverage containers get recycled rather than ending up in landfills, while also doubling the income for the canners that rely on the bottle deposit to earn their income, currently making less than $6/hr!

Our landfills are filling up - we need a better way to handle our trash - starting with reducing our usage of plastics. 40% of plastic production is to make single use items, which are used just once and then end up polluting our environment and clogging our landfills.
