The couple immigrated to the U.S. with six children in 1832, first settling in the state of New York and then moving after a few years to Lexington, Sanilac County in Michigan. The earliest ancestor of Jacob Surbrook is said to have been Niklaus Zurbrügg, also of Frutigen, born 1626.

When these people came to the USA, it became Zurbrigg, Surbrug, Surbrook, Zurbrugg, Zurbruegg, Surbrugg, And Zurbrick. More specifically, Jacob Surbrook, baptized Jacob Zurbrügg on August 5, 1792 in Frutigen, Switzerland, was the founder with his wife Susana of the Surbrook line of _Michigan_.

For most of my life, I had no idea where the name "Surbrook" came from. Recently, I found a website that tells me: zur Brügg means "at the bridge" in Swiss German. This became the surname Zurbrügg.

Phenomenal game session tonight. PCs were split into multiple groups, I swapped between them frequently, and made decisions based on "what monkey wrench can I throw in now?" I was told that it was the best session so far.
