An instance of both good game design and hateful game design.

Playing Slay the Spire 2 and I have a card (TEAR ASUNDER) that deals 34 damage for each instance of HP loss I've had this combat.
That counter is up to 20 times. The boss has 300 max health.
BUT IT IS INTANGIBLE which means it only takes 1 damage from all attacks.
Sadness occurs.

I think I'm really cooking something special for codename Gobsports. Its super interesting to write a "combat" system where you technically don't win by defeating your enemies if they can still get the Orb in the goal. In the meantime, here's a picture of JORTS DAN, Underdog and crowd favorite.

Jorts Dan is a small, POWERFUL gob in cut-off jean shorts with a stick-bat hitting the Sport Orb with all their arcane might.

Started painting some laser skeletons today! I don't know why its taken me so long to paint some necrons, they were one of the factions that drew me to the hobby. And of course I'd take the robot skeletons and make them into skeletons again.

Some boney looking skeleton robots. They are meant to be painted in metal colors even though they look like skeletons, for a robot zombie look. I'm going to a laser skeleton look with some bright teals and hot oranges to really contrast with their regular look.

THE HUNGRY HOUSE IS REAL. I love that this goofy Halloween special nemesis based on a failed Ironsworn adventure has become a 3D thing you throw dice into. The cardboard is sturdy (which makes putting it together a little tricky), but it feels solid and makes a good sound!

The dice are pretty standard, but I do like the colors and size. They're designed to fit into the character cards (which are made of a pretty sturdy, double layered cardboard) for all the modal attributes. Also the character art is SICK. I hadn't seen anything from the Illuminate box and wow!

My copy of #OneLastFight came into today and wow! There's so much good stuff! @hitpointpress.bsky.social did a great job with the physical product, everything is top quality. A THREAD First note: The cards! They got that good poker card weave texture that I love. Also the foils are hi-tech shiny.

Some kinda goblin in maybe a space helmet that has two Shrek ears with small hoops on them. Their quilted tunic is worn under a breastplate and over some shorts and knee-high boots. They wield two daggers of unusual origin.

I might be getting into a new minis game that's going to involve me making a whole bunch of my own trenches. Excited to get back into scratch building!

Might've convinced some local folks to play some Necromunda! Here's the factions I've been working on:

Ash Waste Nomads - Dusty, masked wanderers of the inhospitable deserts of Necromunda. I painted them with brown and red cloths, accented in bone ornaments!

House Escher - Hyperpop rollerderby poison and laser specialists. I wanted to lean into bright colors with them, so they have electric green, bright blue, and yellow elements.

House Orlock - Kinda just a biker gang? I named mine the "Cold Iron Towing Company" and am using black, iron, white and teal. Still in progress!

Starting a new warhammer project and this time its MAGIC SPACE DINOS. These little guys are fun to paint! Lots of good texture for dry brushing and pretty simple schemes. Would make a good starting place I think!

I'm thinking about doing a second edition of Gobs of Gobs and thought I'd redo the character art and *gosh* I'm definitely seeing the leaps I've made in my art and style. Here's a Gob who "Knows a Curse Word" from 2019(??!?) vs now.

The original "Knows a Curse Word" which is pretty stiff and the line work is pretty simple.

The new "Knows a Curse Word" where a gob is shouting "BUTTS" in an arcane script. The lines of action are much stronger and there is a more developed linework-style.

I started with the Kroot, because they are effectively Turtle/Porcupine Australian Space Cowboys who love to eat. Turns out they are very good. I only ever lost one game and in that process I learned <Lesson 1>: if you don't lose well, don't play a game that can take 3 hours.

I'm slowly trying to figure out how to play Warhammer: Necromunda and its kind of like playing a TTRPG from the 80s, and you have to roll up a character for each model in your gang. Its both incredibly compelling but also waaaay too much number what? This is one character (plus their familiar)!

I wasn't understanding the hype around Stormcast Eternals, but then I realized that the reason I found them uninteresting was because of the helmets. So I finally decided to learn how to paint faces properly and whoa! I am now interested.
