FEH Book 10, Chapter 12 spoilers! This is a snippet I wrote for catharsis this afternoon, since I was home sick from work and this chapter inflicted major emotional damage on me. 😭 Chika's usually well hidden fears of being abandoned by or torn away from those she loves are surfacing...

"We're retreating!" Anna shouts. "All we can do now is try to survive as long as we can."

Chika remains frozen in place by Alfonse's side as the others gather their bearings and start to move. All of Chika's friends try to rouse her from her trance with little success as they regroup. Their voices, their pleas...they all fall on deaf ears. Chika presses Alfonse's unmoving hand to her cheek, flinching as the sensation of sticky metal that's as cold as ice brushes her skin. She doesn't even notice at first when Thórr kneels down next to her, saying something to the group that doesn't register until the war goddess reaches for her lover's body.

"He is a Hero of true strength who should be honored and laid to rest with care... Even as the world comes to ruin..."

"W-What...? No...please..." The summoner's low voice is almost unintelligible over the howling winds as Alfonse is moved away from her with care.

"He is safe with me, Summoner," Thórr whispers with surprising gentleness in her ear. "You have my word."

"No! Please...!" Chika repeats with more force. She grabs in vain at the tattered ends of Alfonse's once magnificent cape as the goddess easily lifts him into her arms and stands. "You can't...!" she wails.

Anna's hand lands on her shoulder. "Chika, right now I implore you, as your friend and not your commander...find your feet!" she says urgently, but not unkindly. "We have to go. ...It's all we can do for him."

Chika fumbles to pick up lance Breidablik, which has been laying forgotten next to her in the snow. She wobbles as she stands, Anna keeping a bracing hand on Chika's back until she's steady on her own. She glances over her shoulder.

...Alfonse somehow looks so small and fragile in Thórr's arms.

"Damn it, Alfonse, you told me we'd survive this together!" Chika hisses through her teeth in ancient Askran as she snaps her eyes away from the sight. "Y-You promised me that my curse would end with you!" she cries, gripping her weapon tight. "...But that was a lie, wasn't it? In the end, you've been ripped away from me...just like everyone else I've ever loved...!"

so. i think artists should be more willing to admit if drawing certain themes isn't okay up front. instead of taking people's money and begrudgingly drawing something they don't enjoy. because the lack of enjoyment is palpable, believe it or not. this is why i have clear don't draws in my tos.

so fun fact was that bsky was originally associated with crypto. they backed out of that & the whole pro ai thing back when it first started, when people were inviting their friends to join. and now that they've got a good amount of users they're spitting in everyone's faces who helped them succeed.

it's okay to charge extra for things outside of your comfort zone. the difference is being upfront vs. just taking the money and not caring to put effort in it to the point that they didn't bother to remember the character's names when responding to my feedback. i wish i could rescind vgen reviews

exactly!! it's okay for artists to turn down requests. i actually had a conversation w the artist about this and everything they said was using adhd and autism as an excuse or just rubbing the fact that they took $24 from me in my face bc the money was what mattered to them and not the craft.
