It was mostly stemming from a reddit post on incremental games asking for feedback. Itch analytics shows that got it the first 100 plays, which got the ball rolling to get it into some /new-and-popular categories on itch, which got it a further 200 plays now so ~300 total.

Thanks so much for playing our game! Was great to hear you laugh as you popped open all the chests. Nice spot on the cause for that bug with the chests disappearing, that screen is gone now though as we tried to get rid of some of the ux pain points. Opening 500 chests wasn't easy!
