what's even more frustrating is that the vast majority of those people are going to vote to elect/reelect Trump supporters to Congress.

You may not understand this issue correctly. Do you honestly think it's "bullshit" that that collective bargaining is not treated as illegal anticompetitive activity? That's really extreme statement and would eliminate the ability of unions to collectively bargain on behalf of their members.

As I keep saying, the attempts to regulate the college sports labor market are pretty explicitly anti-civil rights bills. No other anti-civil rights bill has had this kind of bipartisan support in Congress in my lifetime.

Can somebody please get these files and create a distribution channel for 3D prints of this work? The artist seems to be encouraging it and I'd love to have one. It's the guy who did the Pillars of Shame about Tiananmen Square.

Yes, they would, but rarely. They blocked 10 of Jerry Brown's in 2018, but it was the first time they'd done it since 1930.

On p.3 of this order the California Supreme Court points out that judicial authority on this subject is unique, but other states share the authority between the governor and either the legislature or an independent board. The order also severely limits the court's role in clemency decisions.

It is, however, now illegal for a teacher to call the Gulf of Mexico anything other than the Gulf of Mexico or the Gulf of America. I'm not sure who is going to violate that law. Maybe a delusional, mentally ill president.

Alabama: All state employees "shall be required to...(1) Refer to the body of water that borders the coast of Alabama as the "Gulf of America." Also: "Any reference to the Gulf of Mexico shall be deemed to be a reference to the Gulf of America." Calling it Gulf of Mexico complies with this law.

Under Section 1(b), "Any reference to the Gulf of Mexico shall be deemed to be a reference to the Gulf of America." Accordingly, per the plain language, anybody referring to it as the Gulf of Mexico is deemed to have referred to it as the Gulf of America and is therefore in compliance with the law.

They would have to change the rule requiring the majority leader to call an executive session. Maybe they would do that, but it's a separate vote, then they can call the executive session. Then they can call a vote.

I'm not Gritty, but I'm gritty @sunshipballoons.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
But this is all wildly fanciful. IRL, if Fetterman votes for the democrat as majority leader in a 51-49 senate, there is no path to confirm Trump judges without the support of (a) at least one dem on the judiciary committee and (b) the majority leader.
000
I'm not Gritty, but I'm gritty @sunshipballoons.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
I'm curious, how do you bring up a vote on a nomination without being in executive session in the Senate (you can't). How do you get to executive session? Majority leader has to call for a vote. So, you're right, there's another path: they could change the rules for how to get to an exec session.

It depends what Fetterman's defection looked like. If he votes with the GOP in selecting Senate leadership, then they can force a vote. But if he votes with the Dems on leadership, there is no way for the GOP to force this vote (unless they get control and elect new leadership first).

that second one is the real point. In theory, this is a reasonable line of inquiry, but you either (1) do better research first or (2) accept the witness's answer as true until you leave and go do better research that actually proves them wrong, rather than falsely accusing them of perjury
