I was checking out the catkins on my hazelnuts in the back yard (nuts next year, maybe!) and found a well-camouflaged friend

A small brown butterfly, perhaps a pearl crescent, sitting atop a hazelnut leaf that is starting to brown for the winter

The same butterfly, viewed a little more from the front

I guess I will just do it! Anyways, I finally had these pins made. There are some things I might do differently on a second run but overall I think they still look cool!

A photo of some pins I designed. Both are shaped like a leaf with a drip tip and have a stylized flower mimic mantis. The one on the left reads "I'll fight you!" with the mantis as the letter i in the word fight. The one on the right reads "you lose" with a headless mantis as the o in the word lose, a stylized drop of blood suspended over its neck

Reading about airline shenanigans and reminded of last winter when my 8-ish hour trip to my aunt's house morphed into 38 hours and involved several agents telling me that I was someone else's problem on a wild goose chase to get on a plane

My mom always buys me a fancy advent calendar (just as an excuse to buy me a gift) and wants to know what I want this year. Anyone have any fun ideas? She's gotten me a cat themed one before, and tea, one with little wooden toys

Well okay so. Update. While current employer #2 [tm] does offer health insurance to part timers it is $129 (!) PER WEEK (!!!!) unless you are "eligible for subsidy." No idea who is eligible for subsidy or how I would determine if that's me. So anyways I'm like uuuuh new plan maybe

There is a slightly rare out of print book I want (if they're even available, I haven't seen a copy for less than $50-100 in ages, which isn't necessarily a ton but it only cost $10 retail when new) and there is a copy available for $35 right now which isn't expensive obviously but.

Look what the tide brought in! 🌊🐠 [ #cuteart #artshop #enamelpins ]

Five enamel pins of long cats curled into circular shapes. All but one have fish tails instead of back legs. They’re themed uniquely: a purple whale shark swimming with jellyfish in dark water; a colorful coral reef; a fishbowl with a clear center & printed fish; a green taiyaki treat; a mermaid cat with a teal tail. Seashells & other trinkets lay around the pins.

Coming out of my cave to post about some cool salamanders I found in a cave

Despite being found in a cave I think these might be long-tailed salamanders (Eurycea longicauda) and not cave salamanders (Eurycea lucifuga). A photo of two salamanders chillin' in a cave, illuminated by a flashlight. They are sort of an orangey-brown, with spots all over their bodies and long tails

A selection of my jewelry and art. Top row are my hawk skull pins, two old acrylic charm necklaces (a chameleon and an Indian giant squirrel), and a tiny canvas painting of a blue footed booby. Bottom row are two pairs of crystal earrings - one looks like cherries, the other is nickel silver with blue crystals), two original paintings/drawings from my nature friends zine, and a copy of said zine
