I've been at work sprucing up my stock for my very first tabling appearance. These are so fun to make!

Here’s Libby’s statement with alt text. Because the statement itself apparently wasn’t disappointing enough, so they decided to also forego alt text, thereby excluding a lot of disabled people from being able to read it 🙄

Technology evolves, but Libby's commitment to libraries does not.

Al is influencing how the book industry operates. As technology changes, we will continue to adapt to help meet the needs of libraries and the people they serve.

We make as many titles as possible available through partnerships with publishers. A wide range of availability allows librarians to curate their own collections based on the needs of their communities. Libraries make purchasing decisions, and we respect their expertise and autonomy.

Libby's role is to support choice by ensuring options are available and empowering libraries to serve their patrons. We don't exclude titles created with AI tools from the catalog, we ask that publishers self-identify Al content.

Libby includes an optional feature called Inspire Me to help patrons discover books already curated by the trained librarians in their own community.

We recognize the environmental footprint of AI systems and we strive to minimize it through evaluation of our systems for sustainability. As a Certified B Corporation, we are required to meet defined social and
environmental standards, aligning with recognized global frameworks and incorporating environmental performance into our overall ESG commitments.

We value privacy and only collect data that is necessary, we do not share personally identifiable information with external parties, including Al systems, and we process confidential data in secure environments.
Trust is the foundation of everything we do.

As the technological landscape changes, we will remain transparent with our library partners and the readers they serve.

ALT: digital art oil-painting-style: JM & JH, JM, left, gazes into the distance, eyes ruddy from crying, but grasps JH's arm, who leans his head against JM, the colours are shades of yellow greens, clothes black, & a smear of red obscures JH's eyes. JM's tattoo NEVERMIND cuts across his throat.

So the thing about AI is that it is a huge investment in removing people. And I think even barring the many ethical and environmental problems with the tech--that's my issue. All those billions could be used to directly support real people right now, but instead? Building the Wrong-A-Lot 3000.

Digital simulation of some vandalism I was very tempted to do when confronted with these Frankenstein 2025 posters.

A poster for Frankenstein 2025 featuring Oscar Isaacs as Victor Frankenstein. Digitally edited in are the words EVIL SLUT in red.

A poster for Frankenstein 2025 featuring Jacob Elordi as the Creature. Digitally edited in are the words PERFECT BABY in soft pink.

This 2025 stop calling yourself a "content creator" You're an artist, graphic designer, a video editor, an entertainer, musician, a streamer, a cook, a craftsman, an animator, a storyteller, a writer, a painter, a woodworker, a tailor... You are not a faceless "content" machine.

I don’t want to be one of those creators accused of inserting a thinly veiled fetish into their work. I would like to be known for my obvious, observable, unveiled fetishes.
