Exactly. It's just grabbing any potentially available mud that it thinks might stick, while itself posting a cartoon that is utterly both antisemitic and islamophobic.

Sounds as if someone gets a bit confused between "foreign men" and people who strike him as looking a bit foreign.

Sad isn't it. A woman unable to see that she's led a privileged life, who uses her privilege to punch down at children. Oh my god, that child is getting free cornflakes, where will the madness end?

As a child I looked up to her, she was my idol as an olympic swimmer and I wanted to be her. Not anymore. Oh Sharron, what a letdown you turned out to be. An affluent woman bitterly resenting children getting a proper breakfast.

Did you know a barrister is facing jail just for reminding a jury they have the right to vote with their conscience? This historic right has kept trials fair since 1670. We can't let it be silenced now. Add your name to defend fair trials👇 you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/sa...

We will also remember and respect the Americans who resisted, ridiculed, defended their neighbours and stood up to Trump.

Oh well there you go then. The planet is screwed, but hey, the economy looks good. Oh, except now we've got to spend money on flood control, crop failure, wildfires....still, Elon Musk's bank balance looks good, so I guess thats ok then

I don't believe they think in the long term. It's all about the scramble to be the biggest in the short term, and let whoever comes after you worry about the consequences.

I don't see them panicking, the Iran war has doubled their profits. Panic no, war profiteering yes.

I wish Andy Burnham all the best, but his policies on data centres and north sea drilling are irresponsible with drought and wildfires threatening huge areas of the country and the fifth heatwave of the summer forecast

And they will sit and pontificate about the lack of preparedness and resilience of the rest of us, whilst they pack (sorry, have staff pack for them) for their next yacht cruise or long haul holiday

The rich will never die from excess heat, because they have air conditioned homes. Their homes aren't on flood plains so they are safe from rising sea levels and bursting rivers.

Peri @suilven1.bsky.social · 06/07/2026
Apart from the rich old. It's only the poor who will die from heat, the rich old will have their air conditioned homes, which aren't on floodplains. And they will sit in them having "adults conversations" about climate refugees driven from their own homes

Peri @suilven1.bsky.social · 06/07/2026
No, you are absolutely right to be angry. The first victims are always othered, whether they are low lying countries due to disappear under a rising sea, or people with disabilities or just old who can't cope with the heat.

Wait a minute, I was told the Greens were tree hugging, tofu weaving, novelty bicycle riders. Now I'm told that was wrong, they were actually a sinister conspiracy all along. I'm so confused....😂

You obviously have a strong opinion on this, as do I. I think your argument is essentially the same as the judges, that you don't respect the outcome of the jury trial, which I think is very dangerous, but as neither of us are going to convince the other we'll just have to agree to differ.
100
Peri @suilven1.bsky.social · 13/06/2026
Well I'm glad you're against the pogroms in Belfast, Richard, but I think you're avoiding the central issue here, which is that a judge has effectively overruled a jury verdict. Surely whatever your personal beliefs in this case, you can agree that sets a dangerously authoritarian precedent
110
Peri @suilven1.bsky.social · 13/06/2026
Literally, they were found guilty of criminal damage, nothing else. If that if you are found guilty of a specific thing, that's what you are supposed to get sentenced for. Not for something else entirely, based on nothing better than the judges personal opinion.
110
Peri @suilven1.bsky.social · 13/06/2026
Oh do me a favour. The defendants were not found guilty of any terror charge whatsoever, just criminal damage, so whatever your personal opinion, the judge had no right to sentence them for terrorism on the grounds of his personal prejudices when that wasn't the conclusion a proper jury had reached.

generational marketing slogans really don't describe what's happening. They're just handy marketing tools used by focus groups to focus their advertising. The divide is between people with and without huge generational wealth, not people born before or after 1980

FFS. People used to join the Labour Party because they believed in equality and fairness and making the world a better place. Now people like Streeting join it because they don't particularly believe in anything, but a career "in politics" sounds cool

He's an offensive and rude old man with early dementia who should be at home being cared for rather than left in charge of a country. It tells you a lot about his enablers that they keep him in his official position.

This deserves to be circulated. A former Red Cross staff member got in touch. She testifies about @zackpolanski.bsky.social's role. For transparency: her name is Brea Thibodeau. The whole thing is a desperate smear.
