"The American fascist wants to do in the United States in an American way what Hitler did in Germany in a Prussian way... to poison the channels of public information, to use the news to deceive the public into giving the fascist and his group more money or more power." — U.S. VP Henry A. In our world of big names, our true heroes tend to be anonymous, people who can be admired for something more substantial than their well-knownness: the teacher, the nurse, the mother, the honest cop, the hard worker at a lonely, underpaid, unglamorous, unpublicized job." — Daniel J. Boorstin 📷🌱

Training in form and gesture is a plus, too. But don't look too carefully after a particularly kinetic performance, with lots of catches and holds, or you'll see severe bruising. And never look at X-rays of their feet — many badly healed (or perpetually broken) bones. I've run with a few tours.

Our exploratory glimpse of the place we finally bought in Tennessee was at the height of fall color. We flew into Nashville and drove across the Cumberland Plateau through valleys rioting with yellows, oranges and reds. We didn't stand a chance.

The boys on the bank bring back a vivid mental photo. Boating down a river in the Belize jungle, we rounded a corner to see a group of naked Mennonite boys lounging and swimming, presided over by their stout, severe farm-wife mom. A great shot I didn't take; objectifying them would have been a sin.
