Not a response about this post exactly, but a thought that went through my head when I read this. Strong regulation of social media is needed to stop the radicalisation of ordinary people. Yes it may mean not allowing certain platforms in the UK if they won't adhere to the regulations.

I wasn't following the Jason Arday story because I felt the story was motivated by racism. The media failed to ask why a black man's record was being questioned while white men still dominate academia. Honest reporting on plagiarism would have examined academia as a whole, not just one person.
