Al Barile would have been 65 today.. RIP, my friend. #fuckcancer

31 years ago today... NoMeansNo, 10/3/95, Mama Kin. Second of two times I saw them, at this short-lived club on Lansdowne St. And I did an interview with Rob and he couldn't have been nicer.

Mark Sheehan from Out Cold passed away 16 years ago today. He was only 41. Mark was always friendly to me and had a wicked sense of humor. He and his friend and bandmate John were always very supportive. He's definitely missed. The second image is a card from his memorial event.

Conrad Lant aka Cronos from Venom RIP. I have to thank the guys at Rockit Records for getting me into this band. This was before I worked there and they'd play records they think I'd like.

First world pet peeve. When you hold the door for someone and they don't say thank you. That happened today. I always say "you're welcome" to see if they respond. This one didn't.

One of the saddest days I've had in awhile--saying goodbye to my friend and bandmate Ian King. Taken way too young. He was only 56. I still haven't completely processed it yet but it's hit me really hard the last day or two. And I'm not alone, that's for sure.

(1/2) Some publicist wants me to preview an artist named beabadoobee. She's playing the Garden. I have no idea who she is. I checked out a song or two and I'd be willing to bet that the publicist has no idea what I write about. Once in awhile, I'll reply.

I've seen people refer to Dolly as being punk. That may or may not be true. I just think she was a wonderful human being. Not all punks are so wonderful.

I can't stand Nancy Mace but what's with all this pearl clutching about her having tattoos? Probably over 90% of the people I know in the music scene have them, including women.

RIP Jeff "Monoman" Conolly from The Lyres and DMZ. I didn't know him personally, even though we worked at the same record store for a time (In Your Ear in Boston). And, believe it or not, I only saw DMZ once and the Lyres a couple of times, See more at www.instagram.com/suburban_voice

The anti-vaxxers are on the attack again... I'd like to ask my friend, who refused to get vaccinated, what he thinks. Alas, he's no longer here to answer my question. I've protected his name but some of you know who I'm talking about. Miss you, old friend. And if you're an anti-vaxxer, fuck off

Alan Greenspan died... free-market, Ayn Rand worshiper. He lived to be 100. ... that's all. You know the old saying. If you can't say something nice about someone... and there's another saying--only the good die young.

(1/2) Regarding Jaylen Brown, it seems as though Celtics fans and the local (usually useless) sports media have wanted him to leave since the day he got drafted. I remember him getting booed that night. He's been a solid player and does a lot for the community.

Happy Pride! I'm not really a Flyers fan (I used to be, during the Broad Street Bullies era) nor much of a hockey fan these days, either, but Gritty is one of the best mascots in sports.

I hate to admit it, but when the Phillies fell behind 3-1, I was going to go to bed. Glad I stuck it out. Nice come from behind victory. And they've won four out of five on this west coast roadtrip. And I guess I was a bit early, cursing Mattingly for taking out Marsh for Sosa. That worked out fine.
