Steve B @subpopstar.bsky.social · 30/04/2025Nice! I'm still waiting on my first of the year but they're coming. Congrats! 000 0
Steve B @subpopstar.bsky.social · 10/04/2025We're not sure either, except the Missouri Dept of Revenue (driver's license agency) is requiring it for the Real ID. She didn't retake her maiden name; our marriage license shows her maiden name, which matches the birth certificate. We have a handle on things, but it's too complicated to be fair. 110 0
Steve B @subpopstar.bsky.social · 09/04/2025I'm glad your health has improved. It can be disconcerting to see old photos of a you that might no longer be recognizable, but sounds like you were prepared for the TSA. 020 0
Steve B @subpopstar.bsky.social · 09/04/2025It's just "stuff," but magnified as she accidentally let her passport expire. Found one of her old passports the other day. She was a non-military civilian living in Kuwait in the late 90s. The stamps make her look like Carrie Mathison from Homeland, but that was a lifetime ago. 120 0
Steve B @subpopstar.bsky.social · 09/04/2025My wife is going through this right now. We're having to chase down a certified copy of her first marriage license in order to get her Real ID. We have certified birth certificate (now), and certified divorce decree, but need that license. 🙄😏 3111 0

Steve B @subpopstar.bsky.social · 26/03/2025Is there anything like the hope of a new generation? One beautiful Eastern Bluebird egg. She'll lay one per day until there are five in most cases and then start incubation. #birding #kansascity 071 0
Steve B @subpopstar.bsky.social · 24/03/2025Just saw the video for The Lightning Seeds 'Pure' on 120 Minutes. Reminds me of the crush I had on a girl who worked at the Turtles Records in Augusta, Georgia 35 years ago. We bonded over the band, but she rejected my date offer when I got the cassingle. I was such an idiot. 😏 #music 010 0
Steve B @subpopstar.bsky.social · 23/03/2025Seeing UK college-rock icon Robyn Hitchcock play a solo show this afternoon with about 250 people was fantastic. Having him finish the show with a stroll around the venue in a singalong with the crowd to a Beatles song was a treat. The experience won't soon be forgotten. #music #kansascity 030 0
Steve B @subpopstar.bsky.social · 22/03/2025So very good! I remember seeing the video on MTV's 120 Minutes here in the States and buying the album soon after. Combining members of two great groups? I was definitely in for that! 010 0
Steve B @subpopstar.bsky.social · 22/03/2025That's great. We had a mom who raised three broods last year. The male was lost early after eggs were laid for the first brood who battled the worst weather, but I made sure she had mealworms, and miraculously all five young fledged successfully. 110 0
Steve B @subpopstar.bsky.social · 21/03/2025I've noticed a pair of Eastern Bluebirds checking out the nestbox over the last few days. Yesterday was first time I've seen the female carry any nesting material, so took a quick photo when both birds were away. Curious on progress I checked again this afternoon. Busy bird! #birding #kansascity 160 0
Steve B @subpopstar.bsky.social · 15/03/2025That era was just sublime. Buying records like crazy and absorbing every bit of the covers, credits, and sounds was a religious experience. Albums like this have stood the test of time. 110 0
Steve B @subpopstar.bsky.social · 21/02/2025While the releases after Whirlpool weren't quite as consistently strong IMO, 'She's a Vision' is one that held its own. Still love this track! 010 0

Steve B @subpopstar.bsky.social · 20/02/2025Yellow Grosbeak found yesterday in Arkansas, making it possibly the easternmost occurrence of the species. This is the normal range map. What in the world?! #birding 040 0
Steve B @subpopstar.bsky.social · 20/02/2025Seriously, this winter has been interminable. -9°F in Kansas City this morning. Two straight days of record low high temperatures and a new record low this morning. The cold is no longer interesting. 010 0
Steve B @subpopstar.bsky.social · 03/02/2025It's our first false spring in KC. Over 60°F yesterday. Nearly there today. Tomorrow 37°. Ugh! 110 0
Steve B @subpopstar.bsky.social · 03/02/2025It always looks like the females are going to drown. I know some waterfowl mating is more aggressive than that, but the first time you witness it in person it can be shocking. 110 0

Steve B @subpopstar.bsky.social · 31/01/2025Totally fulfillng my musical itch this morning is this new gem from @shapeslikepeople.bsky.social. Steve B @subpopstar.bsky.social · 28/01/2025Don't disagree. With no alternative narrative presented, it reinforces the "left is elite and doesn't care about us" story they tell themselves. Almost becomes a self-fulfilling message in the absence of an extended invitation to choose something else. 000 0

Steve B @subpopstar.bsky.social · 05/01/2025Kansas City is really slippery now with the ice building. It's going to be a good 36 hours to hunker down, journal, listen to music, and catch-up on delayed chores. #mowx 020 0

Steve B @subpopstar.bsky.social · 29/12/2024Every winter I get a couple of Northern Flickers coming to my suet, and even though I see them regularly in the field, it's always startling to see how large they are from just a few feet away. 110 0

Steve B @subpopstar.bsky.social · 29/12/2024I keep watching Anacortes weather as I love the area and western Washington in general. Kansas City has had five days of rain and fog, with more rain to come. It's mild at 45°, but it won't last as winter will be here soon enough. 010 0

Steve B @subpopstar.bsky.social · 18/12/2024Great description of a great album. For me, The Feelies were always bubbling beneath the surface, and when I needed them I wondered why I didn't reach for their albums more often, but they were rarely the "I can't wait to put them on" band. 020 0
