Sublation @sublation.bsky.social · 04/10/2026We played with Mouth of the Serpent in Utah (Kevin was under 21 at the time and we had to sneak him into the venue to play lolol). And I'll never forget seeing Max sing cause it really made me go "fuck man... THAT'S a vocalist" which I feel is rare. mouthoftheserpent.bandcamp.com/album/manifestmouthoftheserpent.bandcamp.comMANIFEST, by Mouth of the Serpent6 track album 000
Sublation @sublation.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Jon left Rivers and formed Outer Heaven. We played their first show. I'm a Jon Kunz ride or die. That dude knows how to write riffs that get your head movin. That's why the song Soil and Seed rules. outerheaven.bandcamp.com/album/demo-2...outerheaven.bandcamp.comDemo 2013, by Outer Heaven7 track album 110
Sublation @sublation.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Rivers recorded their first demo with Carson Slovak so we went to his studio to record Devour All You See. Somehow that resulted in us playing a bunch of shows together. Seeing them play new material always inspired me to write new stuff. riversofnihilpa.bandcamp.com/album/tempor...riversofnihilpa.bandcamp.comTemporality Unbound, by Rivers of Nihil6 track album 100
Sublation @sublation.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Back home we played a bunch of shows at JR's Bar and I fondly remember playing a show where Rumpelstiltskin Grinder made me feel like we still had a lot of growing to do as songwriters. rumpelstiltskingrinder.bandcamp.com/album/living...rumpelstiltskingrinder.bandcamp.comLiving for Death, Destroying the Rest, by Rumpelstiltskin Grinder10 track album 120
Sublation @sublation.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Locusta were the most technical band we'd played with at that point and seeing them pull this stuff off live blew me away. Also their fill in bassist Spenser went on to form Vukari and we keep in touch to this day locusta.bandcamp.com/album/locust...locusta.bandcamp.comLocusta (Self-Titled), by Locusta10 track album 110
Sublation @sublation.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I think it was our first tour where we played a legendary show with Artillery Breath and Locusta in this house venue called the pony pen. We played there a few times after but these two bands really blew me away: artillerybreath.bandcamp.com/album/inhumanartillerybreath.bandcamp.comInhuman, by Artillery Breath8 track album 110
Sublation @sublation.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Out of Trasher came Coffin Dust. Watching them play still inspires me cause Matt really knows how to write a riff that moves the whole room. John has some insane solos. This release has their biggest single that they still play at shows: coffindust.bandcamp.com/album/ancien...coffindust.bandcamp.comAncient Rites of Getting Conjured CS, by Coffin Dust2 track album 120
Sublation @sublation.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Trasher was the first big local band I knew growing up. I was playing rock music at the time and it was so exciting to watch these dudes play. We ran into them on multiple tours and I love these boys dearly. John played a solo on the Sublation debut: youtu.be/Bwhh3I7WAlc?...youtu.beTrasher - Inverting the CrossYouTube video by Full Bongo 120
Sublation @sublation.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I feel like people often name influences that are big cause if you spent an interview naming bands from your local scene no one has heard of you'd seem obnoxious. But as someone who was heavily inspired by our local scene and bands we toured with early on, here are some influences and where we met: 391
